Lars, what a gorgeous little coupe! You scored! My avatar sported when it was done, 55 Olds headlights, 50 Dodge taillights, one piece hood, stock grille, I think with the one bar across they look custom to begin with, nosed, decked, 49 Chev license plate guards front and rear, Pontiac belt line trim behind the quarter windows, sbc and 700r. I really miss that car.......but sounds like you have a solid plan with some great ideas. Carry on!
Thanks! Well, my plans seem to change day by day. Got 2 options: Option 1 -Custom grille surround molded with 54 desoto grille without the lights. 50-52 Buick tail lights mounted like watson heartless. Option 2 -49 cadillac grille and frenched 54 wagon tail lights. Both frenched headlights using 52-54 merc rings, nosed and decked. option 1 is more agressive Option 2 more barris maybe
Keep up the good ideas and good work. My '52 is very popular with folks where I live. I have since had top painted to match the cream-colored cove.
I kind of like this setup, a little simple maybe. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...tiac-grille-1954-chevy-parking-lights.943104/
It's one thing at a time, one day at a time. I had the top chrome piece of the grille re-chromed and will install it in the spring whenever it gets warm.
Ok, so the engine/iron glide is pulled. Scored a smallblock, alu glide, 56 rear combo thats going in this coupe. Also scored a 53 grille surround so things are happening.
Hi Lars, great taste in cars - must be a Norwegian thing ( I'm descended from Norwegian line of Eriksen) & I like the looks of the 1949 thru 1952 Chevys as well. Enjoy!
My 1952 Pontiac Catalina with a 350/TH400 swap still has the original Parking brake, and it even works now! It is one of the few things still the same.
When I did my swap, I used a tranny cross member that would accept a TH350 transmission. With a slight modification I was able to use a T-5 from an S-10. I took advantage of the bolt locations and was able to remount the emergency brake brackets and arm. I sent the original cable to the GM rear and attached to the original cables coming out of the rear backing plates. The trick was finding a way to get the spring reattached. I used a flat bar and bolted it to my two exhaust pipes and used that to mount the spring. Here are a few images of what I did. Maybe it might help?
