    It's a Hemi, not a Chevy! I ran a hoodless '48 Plym for years w/o problems.

Hey, you should know this, there are three things we just accept up in these parts.
    Rain
    Rust
    Sasquatch:eek:

  3. you never leave the house without thinking it might rain here, lol. So always have a hat, jacket, and a plastic baggy to stick over the critical electronics on the firewall or the distributor.

She is short, maybe she won't notice.

These tips are why I post here. You guy's are basically marriage councilors.

Thanks, I thought it up a while back but the execution had me puzzled at times. I am not a carpenter by any stretch of the imagination. Too short of attention span to wait for glue to dry. Metal is instant gratification.

It doesn't rain that much here . I am going to make a hood diaper to cover the Hemi during washes and down pours.

I marred the right side of the trailer on a tree that hadn't been pruned in eons last fall. It took me days with the buffer to polish it back up. Cool has it's price.

I "worked from home" today so i could get caught up on the driver's door speaker.
This one has a bit more work required as evidenced by the extra hole below for the volume knob
    upload_2023-1-26_20-25-25.png
I glued and doweled those quarter rounds on to my birch plywood. Tee nuts to secure the speakers and crossover to the backside.
Again, I paint everything black so the glue will hold better. I am using 3M 90 spray adhesive. I will never go back to the 77. This 1/4" buildup is glued in place and allows for room for wiring.
    upload_2023-1-26_20-27-35.png
Again, base wrapped in Tolex, speakers and crossover bolted in place. If you are wondering why the speakers are all at this end, remember it is a PU and there is no use firing speakers into the seat riser.
    upload_2023-1-26_20-29-29.png
This is the tricky bit, I am using a Rockford Fosgate volume knob that must be RCA cabled back and forth to the amp under the seat. I will be going up and over the door opening with all door wiring.

But the cool part is I will be able to control Bass, Treble and Volume from the door panel. It is all blue tooth from my i-phone but a knob is easier than grabbing the phone to make volume adjustments.... Okay fine, I did it for the looks and I am attempting to justify the idea.
There is also a light that reminds me if the stereo is powered up. What? That's a nice feature! Geez
    upload_2023-1-26_20-31-58.png
The knobs are obviously Fender stuff as well. I made a thick aluminum face plate for the controls and covered it in the same pick guard that I used on the AC control panel under the dash.

I really need to engrave an "11" on that volume knob.
    upload_2023-1-26_20-33-46.png
Fender end caps and my grille insert w/Fender material complete this project. Now I can get back to figuring out the wiring to make all of this crap work.
And yes, the Fender emblems are both in the same location. I was factoring the space for the control panel when I built the other side. (they do line up but it was completely accidental)
Mark this one off the to do list. Hey, like Forrest said, "it's one thing"

That only happens when you wear socks with Birkenstocks.
    It's a NW thing.

Anytime that I think I have done something pretty neat to my hot rods I see another post from you Bandit and realize what neat really is. I don't qualify. Thanks for posting all these neat tricks.

Thanks man. I wasn't sure about my carpentry skills. I could see in my mind what I wanted, wasn't sure if I could. Glad that is over with.

    I don't even wear socks

I tried to figure out an input on that control panel to plug into. That was a bit beyond my job description

That is a nice compliment sir. I am sure not everyone on here agrees and a few would rather me build elsewhere and I get it, not completely traditional. I try to show just the stuff that won't get me kicked out. And I have seen your stuff, and it is very neat. I just have issues.

I wonder if these would work for you..they turned up in a quick search, so such a thing does exist in various forms..

I work hard to keep you pleased! Today I can run more wire and plug a few more things into the fuse panel.

Cold buy sunny day today so I took advantage and swept my pig stie of a garage. Trucks look kind small outside but it back on all fours to stay...I really shouldn't have said that.

I was asked by a couple of ya about the final windshield installation. Well, the third time was a charm as they say. That happens when you are experimenting with stuff that wasn't supposed to be there. Here is the finished look of a 41 truck with an earlier chrome windshield frame.

Funny, it looks like a mini me driving it.

I called in my glass guy who had some of this rubber seal from a vintage fire truck windshield he installed. We used a primer to ensure adhesion to the frame and then glued it in place. After that he ran a heavy bead around the inside.
I still need to goop the center seam on the bottom a bit but I am very happy with how it turned out. I used 36 ford windshield clips which are SS and re-popped, re-bent them to fit my frame and glued them in place.

  19. That windshield is the tits just like you envisioned!
Was the catch finding a correct rubber weatherstrip that would adapt the frame to the opening.? The stock one of either year wouldn’t work?

I thought you would like to see that. I will ask my glass guy what he used. The stock one did not work out, too short by fractions of an inch. This was perfect and did not need trimming.

  21. Well executed B-B as usual. I have never been a Copycat of another person's finished product. Meaning I usually start with their idea and improve on it. Geezz, no improving on this idea. That's bad ass for sure.

Yes, I have done a fair amount of copying off of you. Your kind of like that guy in class that you want to sit slightly behind and aside on test days. I am pleased to return the favor friend!

  24. Well, I'm hoping to be ready for new glass before I could find a nice 39 Windshield frame to install. How about I just park close to ya so your job really stands out?

Thanks! The paint I think is nice, way nice. My polisher has not been back for some time. I may be doing this myself. I'm capable but there is so much to do on this truck, it would have been nice to get a hand on the polishing.

I can return to wiring this week. It would be nice to hear it run again and I think I can pull that off in the next week or so. The e-brake holds nice. I just about blew out a section of intestines trying to push it out of the garage today. Damn e-brake was set.

Pops had another frame at his place last time I checked. Needs to get ran past Troy to make it shiny.
While cleaning the garage today I came across that Stent Radiator Cap tester of yours. Found some of my tools, found some of yours. Success.

A little late here but If you want to chrome the inner hood structure you need to make it a part that bolts in. as long as the hood isn't painted can you weld in flanges with holes so it can bolt in after plating???

I chrome all of the hood braces on the 34. Still love it. I was just talking to @Pist-n-Broke on the phone. We are going to take a look at it to see what we can pull off.

you know what they say, “paint will fade, but chrome will get you laid”. Actually, I just coined that one. A H.A.M.B. original!
