My parents lived in Las Vegas. When I came home for Christmas leave, I used to go see Don Rickles lounge act every night. I was only 19, I wore my uniform and was never questioned.
Ah, those cigarette vending machines. When my buddies were too young to buy them at the store they would just go to the local bar and in the entrance was one of those machines.
Ours was #99 and 101 in North Inglewood. My uncle Bob owned a ****tail Lounge across the street from the Helms Bakery in Culver City in the 50’s. It was called the Talon. My parents always called it the “beer joint” as I remember.
