Well after many years of searching for some of the most hard to find valve covers , i have had the greatest streak of luck and managed to buy three sets in a matter of weeks. What i bought are the early casting Thompson ( 1959-63 ) and two sets of the 1964 Mickey Thompson M/T logo version for Pontiac. I have a question regarding a casting number on 1 set of the 64 set . One set has it and the others do not. So if anyone else out there has any to compare or info that would help please comment or message
I found a set of M/T valve covers a few years ago. They said Mickey Thompson and General Motors inside the valve covers. Both covers were still in sealed boxes with GM part numbers on the labels
Sigh............I'd love to find a pair. Closest I can get is a pair of no-name Edelbrock covers, later M/T covers and a pair of those $64, 5 fin made after 2000
I got a set of the later M/T rocker covers with the built in breathers. I got an idea that they are 70s chit. I always wanted a pair and now I wish I had different ones. The early M/Ts are the Holey Grail. here is an interesting Tid Bid. In my quest for whatever was in vogue at the time I have seen the really early ones several ways, cast in numbers, no numbers and some with a number boss and stamped numbers. I have no idea of the significance of this but it does muddy up the waters a bit.
I found these big block chevy's interesting, look like a M/T casting but no name inside, only the number and made in Japan. Sold for $115 on marketplace, I've seen similar but with a name cast inside.
