I'm trying to find info on this trans so I can get a rebuild kit. It was attached to my Flathead 8BA. 3 speed with serial number 41052. Searched and it could be a 39-40 and possibly out of a Merc but this engine and trans came out of a truck.

Early '50s Ford pickup. Handy for bolting to an early flathead, but being able to run an open drive rear end.

48-52 F pickup 3 speed with open drive output shaft and rear mount. Same basic trans used in 40-48 p***enger cars with closed drive output shaft and mount.

I'm building a belly tank with a 38 wide five bajo rear end. Was thinking about running the bajo and trans with this speedway adapter

I need to correct myself. This open drive was actually used from 42-52 in pick up trucks.

  10. Looks kind of like former my brother Charlie who went that route and is now my "sister" Charlene, but I might be wrong.

Anyone know a place to source a 16spine yoke for this trans?

I believe that 1955-63 Chevrolet yokes will fit.

    Have you tried Van Pelt?

  14. The yoke fits all Powerglide GM cars. If you actually do a Belly Tank project staying closed drive makes everything much easier as for Fab work.

The late 60’s Powerglide yoke will fit the 16 spline output shaft of the open drive Ford transmission he has. However, it must be shortened by about 1.6” and then rechamfered. If you don’t do this, the yoke will not have correct engagement of the splines on the mainshaft. Left unmodified, you’ll either have too much slip yoke hanging outside the transmission, or you’ll find that the front of the yoke will bang into the speedometer gear snap ring with every bump in the road.

  16. This is the rest of the story as Paul Harvy used to say. I have a ratted out old one that hangs on the wall behind my Layth for a Polish blueprint.
