I don't have any pictures of 2222 club or of Pat Kirkwood's hot rod. I believe he had a roadster. Here is a picture but I do not own the rights to it.

So far I have only 1 picture of the 2222 club in a advertisement don't have a date for it though so it could be taken anywhere between the 30s-80s FB_IMG_1676326480072.jpg

Judging by the 5 digit phone number, it would have probably been in the early to mid-50s. Late 50s to early 60s would have had a two letter prefix until the 80s when the 10 digit numbers came into play. I remember a girl I went out with a couple of towns away who's phone number was 1454. I dialed up my local operator, gave her the town and number I wanted, she contacted an operator in that town who connected me with the girl's number. The romance lasted until my Dad got the long-distance phone bill :(.

Coming from this newspaper article Pat Kirkwood sold the club off to I guess to a company and had it demolished where the spot is today is near a whataburger and a empty hill

Where this empty hill stands today who knows how many memories where made and how many rods and customs came out of there. The rocket club from WW2 era is still standing today but is now a muffler shop who kept the rocket sign Rocket-88.jpeg rocket-ad-1948-fwp.jpg

  8. So great to see this thread and all the names my stepdad, Bill Collins, talked about over the years! Sorry to hear Bobby Wolcott is in assisted living. What an amazing history!!!

Anybody recognize these two? They are for sure Texas cars but not sure about DFW. They came from the same seller. The later T is in front of a “Hopkins Motor Service” but I haven’t been able to find that. Also a really early 7-11 convenient store which was born in Dallas, and also what looks like a meat packing plant.

I was by the old Rocket building late last year and the sign had been taken down. I hope it is getting restored and put back up.

An interesting book for anybody wanting to know what Jacksboro Highway in Fort Worth was like.
