What is the difference between a 39 standard and 39 Deluxe headlights? Are the buckets the same? Seems like the lenses are the same but maybe the trim rings are different? I'm sure somebody knows the answers so speak up

Nothing is the same. 37-39 standard is one part # and 39 Deluxe is all by itself.

if you put 37-39 standard bezels and lenses next to 39 deluxe the differences are obvious. 37-39 come to a point at the bottom where 39 deluxe are wider and rounded at the bottom.

Basically, 39 Standard fenders and lights are the same as 38 Deluxe.

  6. 1937, 1938, and 1939 Ford standard use the same peaked headlight rim. 1939 Ford deluxe has a much flatter headlight rim. The 1939 Ford headlight lens is all by itself, except maybe for the 1939 Mercury.

20230215_093607.jpg 20230215_093616.jpg 20230215_093627.jpg this is the truck in question and it's a 41 Ford. The customer wanted to see if the 39 lights would fit in the fenders and look good. Here is a picture of the one I have sitting in the fender and it's a little small in the hole. Also to note these are fibergl*** fenders and aren't the best. I can get a better picture of the whole bucket ***embly as I have it out when I get to work.

Jeff, I'm fairly certain that 39 Merc and 39 Deluxe have the same headlights. Like 84.7% sure...:)

That is most definitely a 37-39 standard light. That's why it doesn't really fit. A 39 Deluxe bucket and bezel will bolt right in that fender. Here is a 39 Deluxe headlight, in comparison to what you have a 37-39 Standard.

The bare buckets are the same Deluxe or Standard, but the riveted mounting tabs that attach the buckets to the fenders and hold the lens and bezel are different. If you measure the buckets length and width they are the same. Also the reflector and reflector holder are the same, the bezels and lens are different as well as the mounting hardware. I just rebuilt a set of buckets that were Standard and used Bob Drake 39 Deluxe & Mercury headlight bucket lens & rim mounting kit 91a-13061-k to convert them to Deluxe, you will have to drill some rivet holes that are missing, but that is all that is required to make them fit.

Love the look of the 37 style light in the 41 truck fender. Especially if it fit better.

Yep it did look good. If these fenders were steel I could make it work but they're gl***

Hi I noticed you know a lot about 39 Ford headlights and have recently fitted repro ones. I am having a problem fitting the gl*** to a set. The lip on the bucket won't fit inside the gl*** rim. Would appreciate any help you can give or ideas thanks

Can anyone tell me where the rim fits on the top tab on deluxe 39 headlights. Does it sit on the front of the tab in the recess or behind the tab?

Sorry, but I can't remember as the truck is not here. But it will be back soon for some front end work. maybe someone else can chime in that has one closer.

It's been a minute since I've been inside one of those, posting pics would help tremendously.
