I bought this new in the box never opened. It's kinda cool. Anyone else ever seen one or something like it?

Like what I intend to use on my coupe build. You used to see them on older big trucks.

Does that have a rubber wheel at the column mount? If so you cut a slot in the column jacket and the rubber wheel rides on the steering shaft.

It does have a rubber wheel. I think it has illuminated arrows too, I never even read the instruction sheet. I figured the rubber wheel was intended to ride on the steering wheel hub. Cutting the slot in the column is a great idea! Now I've got to read the instructions.:D

  5. Great score tomcatll, I use a basic original Yankee 730 and had to adapt an annoying beeper to remind my dumbass it was still flashing :( ....I envy that "Wheel-O-Matic

  6. The old postal jeeps had a similar setup on them. It worked well.

LOL I've had cars in the past that for what ever reason didn't self cancel and felt like a dumb ass. When I see others on the road for miles with their signal on I think WTH! I guess their just taking their turn at being a dumb ass too. Seems a little green dash light would be better than a beeper.

  8. I have a couple old clamp-on turn signal switches. One has the rubber wheel. Never thought of cutting slot, thought it would just catch the hub. Thanks.

The way the wheel comes out of the unit I’d think it rubs against the hub of the steering wheel.

It may rub on the hub, the slot thing was a 50 year old memory from a junk yard trip.

Hunched over the steering wheel, in the fast lane on the freeway, left turn signal flashing, going 40 MPH. I'll be there in a few more years.:D

  16. The good thing is that when you get to that point, your eyes are shot and the ears ain't much better, so you can't hear the dickheads honking their horns or see the scumbags giving you the finger! Life is good inside your own mind!!

  17. It's a good kit and can be used in many HAMB-friendly vehicles. Good to sell or trade, too.

  18. I have one of these in my collection of bits, and always wondered what the little wheel was supposed to ride on to work. After leaving the indicators on all day, I have installed beepers on my cars, and have had to shut them up a bit as they were too loud. Now I can just hear them over the radio.

When I worked at Bowden's autoparts in the late 80's early 90's we had some "loud" flashers on the shelf and some played Love Me tender or some other Elvis song. I never remembered to buy some of them for later.

That switch is designed for the wheel to ride on the steering wheel hub. I'm not sure that you could modify it to have the wheel reach the shaft.

A flasher that play's Elvis is a pretty unique accessory! How may people have that. Of course some would say it's not for them. I might even be one of them. I've never heard of one until now. Yes, I figured the wheel rode on the hub and at some point I'll actually read the instructions. The slot in the column is an interesting concept but, as you say, it probably won't work.
