I was thinking a little older looking, but I’ll read up on the Weber’s.

Harlen/Sharp 1.75 ratio, But you need a valve cover spacer(or tall aftermarket VC) and knock the corners off the outboard rockers to keep them from rubbing upload_2023-2-20_8-8-55.jpeg

I haven gotten to the point to measure for pushrods yet. I'e only been putting this engine together for about 10 years. But when I had the cam ground I had 1.70 big block roller rockers and have cam specks using them as well a 1.75s. When it is together I'll measure for both before order pushrods. Does anyone know for sure if pushrod guide plates are needed?

I opened mine up and using guide plates only for the fact that I have not put this combo together before and dont want to get caught later on needing to open the PR guide holes

Thanks, buddy and I built it in the mid 80’s! He built a 29 Tudor (his has a SBC), we built them side by side in his shop. He still has his too.

  9. Clifford. I just got an adapter from them to mount a Holley/Webber type two barrel carb on it. The Chevy V8 carb is just too big. Runs way too rich and mounted like it is, it stalls when turning.

    I believe ford had a " progressive " 2 - barrel for the pinto 4 cyl , as well ?

The 66 Pontiac OHV 6 cylinder engine had a Quadrajet carb.

  13. The Tempest 4 could be bought with a small 4GC, but they were 194 and 1/2 cubic inch ;-)

  14. Yep, but the carb was mounted facing forward like on a V8 so it worked better. The Poncho motor had more horse power too. The engine was offered in three horsepower ratings: 115hp, with 8.6:1 compression and a two-barrel carburetor; 140hp, with 10.25:1 compression and a two-barrel; and 166hp, with 10.25:1 compression and a four-barrel.
The 153 was rated at 90 HP. I'm not sure what mods were or were not done to this engine. I'm going to switch to the Webber two barrel. Smaller venturis, mounts facing the right way and very tunable. I have a progressive version (Pinto/Vega) and the performance model that is not progressive. They are both 230CFM. The Rochester is 285 to 450cfm. Not sure which one I have on there now, but plugs show to be very rich. Thanks for your input.

Well, I hate to say this, but I gave up. I found one of the welded up head stud holes had a Ccrack from there to a water jacket hole. I was able to get my 166ci Sesco Chevy back that I traded to get one of my grandfathers old super modifieds. The chevy II racing parts I am selling to someone who is building a vintage midget. The Sesco Chevy original came with my midget and after my step father passed it became available. I promise not to hijack this thread, but here's is what I have to work with.

Machined up the new timing cover that I will mount the 4/71 blower to. Need to make a 2" spacer because of the length of the drive coupler

Two of the critical skills are to be able to tell when your plan is no longer a good one and being able to see the best path forward.

I hate to do it, but I need to finish the car up. It's been a sad running joke with the amount of problems I've ran into and delays of progress. The Sesco has all the engineering done, I just need to repair it and put it back together. That you everyone for all the advice.
