Hot Rods BENNETTS ‘Pacific-Indian Special’ ‘29 Roadster on ‘32 rails

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jordabennett, Jun 5, 2022.

  1. Made a wood buck (expected it to burn) next time I’ll make a steel one but roughly got the section made for the rear kick up area that I replaced. It will be hot riveted in and pickup part of the crossmember aswell. Holding to make it simple and look like it should be there.

  2. Wasn’t happy with the first inner plate for the frame rail so I fabricated a new die using more steel and less wood, gave it a crack and it looks a lot better already. Bit more to go then I can rivet these in. Sure was close to just welding them in!

  4. Well got them cleaned primed and bolted it, tried 4 top rivets on one side with my new buck and seemed to work really well. More pictures tomorrow.

  5. Got the boxing plates riveted into place, having a heavy buck and three blokes to help it went very well and they pulled tight and even.
Chassis is ready to come out of the jig and start to get the rear end, motor and trans mocked up.

  11. Rolled it out side, had a look, still needs the rear frame horns cut so the body sits better, sneak peak with 32 grill. Huddy seems to like it! 293EB9AC-9985-4ED5-A58C-9F3343FD06C1.jpeg E91E4405-CA90-4604-B59E-F5AC7EE30F58.jpeg 2C3107A1-054D-4C55-8B4A-8F8B08CE5321.jpeg B4B01DDC-BD9E-438F-BF0B-829EE84E59F9.jpeg

  13. Was thinking about running a set of twin pulley pumps, there would have to be some modifications but like the look anyone familiar with this?

  19. Managed to get the drive shaft shortened and relocated the radius rod mount and shortened the rods to suit. Will it all work? Who knows haha 9E3704E0-A646-4E1E-ACFB-680CE945DC8D.jpeg A9E2491D-D412-429C-9FEB-D97125162296.jpeg 75399F86-DF71-4473-AB07-FC5878A77F2F.jpeg 7C70F7CF-49F8-4C05-8F74-0A76847EBF31.jpeg 6DBF85E4-479D-4645-A76D-64565AEEE4A2.jpeg CB454B0C-38F8-4A3D-934C-8221732857F5.jpeg AB0A7823-522E-4BE4-A3C2-48B1A8C5AA5B.jpeg

  21. Rear end is under and body on for mock up.
Below I don’t have a 32 stock front wish bone or a nice 33/34. What I have to use is a 36 front bone and a model a rear ball. I’ve started cutting them and plan to make a slug the will go inside both and extend 40mm to get me to the desired stock 32 length. Will this work? No idea- I will try and see! The downward arch of the A yoke will give you more clearance to the oil pan than a 32 could.

Wonder if all the angles are the same of differ with an early Model A wishbone? I don't have a later on to compare this one to. DSCF7709.JPG Bob

  24. I think the model a has a curve or downward arche more than a 32? Hope this will help for clearance

  25. I managed to get the spacers made and welded in. The 36 wish bone with the rear model a mount sits exactly the length of a stock 32. Only issue is the ball fits loose under the k frame, is there another piece im missing or does it just sit with in the crossmember and bottom plate? I have two different size rubbers but I believe the bigger one is for later model?

The 32 rubber doesn’t fit the A ball?

  27. The smaller rubber (32 one fits loose. When it’s mounted under with the lower cup plate below the bolts bottom out and there’s still slop. If that makes sense using rubber (left) below 69DCCF1C-F87B-4C63-B05C-0A57C8505FD3.jpeg 581544F1-E1C0-49FF-8735-4AC8235DE78C.jpeg

The rubber ball mount with the grooves is the same as what was on my stepped 46 bones, what ball worked for you ?
