I can't remember where I bought the side mounts for my '56 Chevy. But, they are the style shown on Speedway's site(a**** others). Due primarily to the horsepower(I'm ***uming) the mounts have continued to squish a little over 1,000 miles or so. When I installed everything, I had a half inch or a little over between the bottom of the fuel pump and a bolt. Now, I have maybe an 1/8".
I thought I read somewhere about there being a stiffer an alternative to these bushings that wouldn't squish out so much.
Any ideas where to find said alternative?

Here is a picture of the mount type and bushings I have.

    Thanks in advance

I’ve seen people use hockey picks but they get pretty stiff.

the speedway brand picks are notoriously ****. Maybe give cory a call at RJays in missouri he’s got the good ones last I checked

You might look at some Ford or Chrysler strut rod bushings

I’ve seen recommendations before to use the Bob Drake ones instead.

Take your measurements to a big truck dealer; Kenworth uses a similar design, so does Freightliner and a couple of others. 1800lb diesels smush insulators too

    They're available in polyurethane too!

    2nd Ch***is Engineering.
I use their poly mounts on almost everything. With the bolt through, I also use the nylon lock nuts rather that any sort of lock washer.

I just ordered these tonight from Roadster Supply shop after searching the net for answers. They have a metal band around them that is supposed to strengthen them and help with squashing. They look just like Bob Drakes. Time will tell if they are better. 20230302_202913.jpg

I have had ch***is engineering one in my car for ten or fifteen years and no problems yet.

I've used the Bob Drake's mounts exclusively as they are the only ones that hold up, the speedway ones and other off brands do just smoosh apart. The ones from RJ's Speed Shop are polyurethane and are pretty nice also, I just got those in the front motor mount kit for a small block Ford

These were on my 58 Rambler super six. Don't know how they would hold up on a V8. 1959 -1963 motor mount with part number in background.jpg

I know I’m late to this party but they need the steel band around them to keep them from squishing. I think I got mine from the Early Ford Store, or Drake.

I had a friend whittle these out for me when I put the "iron lung" on the big block, guaranteed not to squish

I have used a lot of the Biscuits from Roadster Supply. Seem to be good quality.

Another vote for Ch***is Engineering, now owned by Heidt's.

When I was putting my ch***is together I looked at a biscuit type mount, but I thought about the time and money put into the stock engine mount. I built some frame brackets that allowed me to use the stock engine mounts. I'm quite happy with the setup. Here's what they looked like when I was in the construction phase. 2014_11_18_0342.JPG

I think Heidt's and Roadster Supply biscuits all come from the same supplier in China.

I wouldn’t use hockey pucks, they are HARD, there would be no cushioning at all.
I’m a goalie, I know how hard a puck is.

The other to think about is lateral stiffness. You need to consider up to 1G braking and cornering forces that means horizontal forces equal to the weight of the motor and trans pushing it forward and sideways.

Got my Ch***is Engineering mounts the other day and installed them last night. I had to enlarge the hole in the lower portion of the steel mounts just slightly for the fancy shouldered washer. But, that is going to be so much better.
    Thanks for the recommendation guys!
