On the back of my grandfather's farm in Ohio. I can remember these for at least 40 years, so who knows how long they've been rotting away.

It does look like the BMW. And I don't know if it's the resolution of the pictures or not, but it kinda looks like that grille had all of those holes drilled individually, and not punched.

I can only imagine a guy with a drill and a sheet of aluminum carefully cutting all of those holes into there for hours to make a grille to keep the stones out of his radiator, can't be a lot of pre-war BMW parts cars laying around I suppose.

Interesting snippet from the BMW Wikipedia article. If this is one of those 16, it's really a pretty special car.

"In 1945, Eisenach was occupied by US forces. However, the wartime allies had already agreed that Thuringia would fall within the Soviet occupation zone. The plant that BMW had originally acquired in 1929 was not fully destroyed, and it was possible for returning survivors to assemble sixteen postwar 326s. A modernised version, badged initially as the BMW 340, emerged around 1948."

Who does this ^ ? I went to school with a guy that had a '59. He messed with it and ended up blowing the engine and let it sit outside. I tried and tried...and tried to buy that car and he would not let go of it. I went by his place around ten years later and the car was still outside, but it now looked worse than that one. This was back in the late 70's, early eighties and I still think about that...dang

A better photo of the Austin (A40?) I posted a while ago; old wrecking yard at Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne (Oz); next to it is a Wolseley 009.JPG

  23. If I didn’t know any better I’d say that was either a 50’s or 60’s style custom. But I could be wrong ( incorrect that is)
