It appears that not all those old coupes that were destroyed on the circle tracks were great bodies like so many thought.

 

The great bodies were probably worth 20 bucks instead of free.

 

That was my Granddaddy standing beside it in 1950 or ‘51. He used to buy them all day long for about $25 or so and race the heck out of them. I know it’s sad so many had to be destroyed on the dirt tracks but here in the south it a right of passage to build and run a dirt car.

As you can see he was known as “Mr Trouble” by the hood and was a very aggressive driver and won a lot of races. I have the receipts from his wins if I can find them I’ll post them. Most of the winnings were around $8 to $16 depending on if it were a heat or the main.
