I know you didn´t ask for opinions, but here´s mine:D: I dig the ray gun idea, but i think if the tube was a little more cone shaped and the rings a little thinner and streamlined, these would be killer!

  2. Cool, very period correct.

I don't understand all the negativity, I am not a custom (kustom?) guy but I can appreciate the workmanship and history.

There are many elements of Racing, Hot Rod, and Custom history I am not a fan of but like it or hate it is history.

I think many people don't like things because they don't know or understand the history behind racing, hot rodding, or customs.

Hahaha man that is a true statement... this car is far from a virgin. The surprising thing is that I brought my car to a regional NCRS corvette judging event last fall and got a ton of positive comments on my car, it really surprised me.... corvette3.JPG corvette4.JPG vette1.JPG vette3.JPG

I wonder if the first ones would work better visually when off if they were tunneled like an inch?

though I do think the diamonds work best with the rest of the car, curious how you’d carry the ray gun vibe threw to the front

Maybe if the ends of the ray gun lenses were slash cut to match the angle of the housing and the rings were attached at the same angle?? I would need to make a fixture for my milling machine so the rings can be bored at an angle... seems do able... But I am pretty set on the diamond lenses...in the meantime they look right at home with my Lee lens collection 83A0FC72-FE69-4554-94CC-14C19CBCD0C8.jpeg

Those ray gun lenses were awesome and would look great on a variety of customs....

yeah man, I hate stock.... that is why I am here instead of a restoration site, by some peoples reactions you would think that I had painted a moustache on the Mona Lisa... there are enough stock examples around that nobody is going to forget what a stock 61 corvette looks like, In the meantime I will be here having fun with my car and isn't that what it is all about???

  10. Cool.
Sink the windshield and top mechanism
A chopped vette would be killer

Nothing is sacred, cut them all up, think outside the box. Takes a set of cast iron nuts to take an iconic car and twist the hell out of it. Much respect to you, @scotty t , and @lumpy 63 ... I dig all 3 of your vette's, but I think they are the only 3 corvettes I like lol

  13. I would walk right past a stock 61 corvette, just not my style.

@Moriarity car would make me stop and try to pick out all the modifications

  15. Mark, I think the tail lights are about as cool as it gets, really has a 60's show car vibe.
Have you given any thought about going one step further and adding blue dots? HRP

You would not find any goofy looking stuff like that on my far from stock Corvette...
sometimes being different for the sake of being different fails.

  17. Have you made all six tail lights yet? I'm looking forward to seeing the back of the Vette being lit up, I bet old George Jetson would be green with envy! :) HRP

Sub Quote “ Think outside the box “

    That’s your first mistake.

I don’t even start with a box, that means someone else created the box.

Einstein and Alexander Graham Bell didn’t start with a box.

Create your own whatever where others have never been or gone before.

It’s not a box, it’s your imagination/ your vision/ your brain / the most powerful / expressive tool you have.

    Your lights :)

Just saw this thread. I dig 'em all. I think the ray gun lenses may need a little tweaking, the thinned edges helped, maybe a little shorter length so they don't stick quite so far out of the housing, and the rings placed a little closer together, but overall I think they are very cool, especially when lit up. The diamonds also look super cool. The finned versions are my least favorite, but I think they could be refined very nicely. Good job Mark! Keep working on it and where you land with it I'm sure will look as bitchin as the rest of your stuff does.

Well, since you didn't ask my opinion I'll offer it, it doesn't flow. The flat end of the tail lamp clashes with the curvature of the rear panel. I'm thinking as mentioned before, the slash, or a bullet tip like a 59 caddy lens, just a bit more organic flow for this application. I like the idea.

everyone likes different things, I am a custom guy. you apparently have a big problem with everything I do. I wonder what it was I did to make you hate me?? Oh well.... Oh yeah I wouldn't have one of those goofy modern tall cowl induction hood scoops on my vette, so we are even

Years ago I was watching the weekly Redskins show when someone commented that a certain wide receiver marched to a different drummer. John Riggins said, "Hell, I couldn't even hear the drummer."

I'm not understanding the negativity. I think the ray gun lenses are rad and evoke a 60's show car kustom feel. The could use some tweaking, but they have the right feel and nobody else has them. Perfect.
