Customs Tail lights for my corvette

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Moriarity, Feb 20, 2023.

  1. The diamond lights are perfect for this car. They fit the overall theme, are traditional, and just look cool.

Kustoms, you either get them or you don't. I don't understand the quickness to jump all over them.

Man, I have some original Lee lenses that are white with red hearts that @straykatkustoms gave me.
    These guys would flip!

Ding ding ding ding ding... I would crawl over a row of stock Corvettes to look at kustom one. (insert your favorite make/model of car in place of 'Corvette', same thing hold true)

And this mild 'Vette nails it in overall look, stance and details.

  3. Best way to describe it and completely agree.

What the hell happened to this HAMB site we are on today. He is a moderator. And people are giving him so much crap. For doing something traditional. He is not going for points at an indoor show. He is doing something traditional. He is beating his own drum. I think I need to modify my taillights next.

Vandenplas, I'm not sure red diamonds are even legal but white diamonds I would think would look great too but glowing white centers may be pushing the law limits a bit. LOL Lippy

I had to opaque the back of the white with black paint, even though it looked cool you can't have white lights in the back... 0523B482-00A6-4A0B-A6CA-10582A2EFE91.jpeg

Wonder what it would look like to opaque the white lightly with a candy purple. Or in my case a candy light green. Lippy

I think legally you are only supposed to have red shining out the back.....

  16. I think if your started with clear plexi instead of white you can kind of skirt it. I mean lots of newer cars have a clear/"euro" lens in the aftermarket. I would just make sure the candy coat is a darker color though to look more like a dark tint, because you can have a tinted tail light lens.

The only issue I see with the white on the road is someone confusing it for a backup light.

Just tell the officer it's your backup lights and the switch has been giving you trouble.

    Green for go
    Red for stop lol
I’m enjoying the creativity that is being shown . Also the History that is being provided to educate those like me who don’t know about Kustom taillights.
I’m thinking a pair of lenses for a 47 Mercury with 4 hearts on them would be the Kats meow

Ho ho ho! That was our signal back in the '70's that we were ready to race, anyone and everyone. Bumper height and backup lights were common writeups on weekends.

Cady 59 custom tail light by Dana in 19600005.jpg I've had a good time looking over custom tail lights that have been posted.

    I may as well add my 2 cents;;
Back when the new models came out for the year of 1959,one car > 1959 Caddy, had new design tail lights* that took the custom world by storm "59 Caddy Tail Lights" four to a car!
They were the RAGE,and showed up so much on all types of custom cars= It became over done, like red rims.
Still, the fact is* ;they were cool tooo the max! :D:p {and the fact that they could be removed from a Caddy by only one small screw on bottom and unpluged too !!!:eek:

I fell in love with them too,and added a pair to my full custom Henry J in 1960.
After looking at them for about a month,I got idea I really liked ,an made 59 Caddy Lights custom too! I cut the tip off,and put it inside.
So now, they looked like JET Engines !!
With the added benefit of not sticking out so far> I though made them into a super extra cool tail lights. Was asked more often then I thought would happen,,after doing my custom mod, "What are those lights from?"
My full custom "J" was in Car Craft Jan 1963.

59 Cad are without a doubt the coolest tail lights ever made. With that said, they are also the most over done tail lights in history. So even though they may look great on what ever we are building we need to choose something else. Just to be different. :D
