Can't see how a fake QC is any different from disguising electronic ignition in a points dist. housing and other such nonsense that flies here all the time. Or those goofy fake lake headers that turn down into mufflers and run out the rear... or Y-block valve covers on an FE, or or or...

If I was building a car that I wanted to be able to drive across the US at the drop of a hat, but didn't wanna give up the look, then I'd run one and not give a fuck what anybody thinks... not that anyone would know better unless I told them.

  4. The last word; A hot rod just has to make the owner happy. No one else's opinion matters in the final analysis.

0B90464A-15D7-4B46-B204-6514CD8A620B.jpeg This is as fake as it gets. Under my 52 Chevy truck, found at a swap meet for cheep , machined an adapter from one inch aluminum until now no one knows it’s there Haha. Oh the shame of it all

  8. I wish I had the clip but @cole Foster had a great quote in one of the first Mad Fabricators Videos about how the Japanese build such badass purposeful bikes while Americans are busy making fake covers on top of fake covers or something to that effect. Fake is fake no matter how you justify it.

    A Quick Change with a 12-bolt cover makes it a Semi-Quick Change.

Went to the farm today and in my 60X90 storage building full of left over crap I found my old Pro Car Champ rear cover for a 9 inch rear like Vintner had on his 3 window. I've got a guy asking about it here in NE. I think I'll give it to him.

I was born in 1950 and into cars from about 5 years old. The only fake stuff I remember was Appleton spot lights and lake pipes that were not hooked up, nothing else. Show cars had dial phones and TV sets that needed to be plugged into the house to work. Can't think of anything else that I ever saw.

I think the problem with fakery is that when someone realizes the car has fake stuff on it............that is what they will remember most about the car.
There are other things that are somewhat middle ground. Are all 3 duece set ups operational ? What about 6 dueces ? There are things which don't give themselves away.
That said, there are lots of things that may look fake.....but aren't. I plan to make a special adapter to mount the aluminum quick change rear gear section mount to the back of a 9" in my 32. The rear will be painted black including the adapter to avoid any phony looking aluminum shining from underneath. The removable cover will be polished along with the gear case part, so that it is noticeable. There will be no gears or shafts inside, but it will allow more fluid inside and provide additional cooling of the oil. I may add some baffles to direct the oil as it comes off the gears so it spends more time against the aluminum surfaces. So it will be a functional oil cooler...........

Today I shipped my Pro Car fake quick change cover to the Nebraska/Iowa boarder 150 miles, UPS charge 30.00. As per attachment 5667712 from 1986 Pro Car shipped the same part 400 or so miles for 5.29. 37 years difference, maybe UPS isn't as bad as I thought???

A woman with whitened and capped teeth, bolt on breasts, nose job, tummy tuck, colored contacts, fake nails and eye lashes, spray on tan, dyed hair with extensions and a stick on beauty mark is still a beautiful woman!

And I forgot where I was going with that...

I'd run one on my 31 tudor 9" ford if I could find one.

I don't see the problem, how many multi carb setups on this site are fake? 6 duece setups running only on the 2 center carbs? Etc. Etc.

I'm with the "it's your car, your money, do as you please" group.
