Okay, before I get flamed, I made the effort to research BB trucks on here and found very little. Has anyone hot-rodded one of these or used the cab and grille to build a hot rod? Saw one on FB that looks to be in pretty good shape body wise with a title for $3500 and thought it might be a good idea. Says both doors are there and the truck has been in dry storage for years. Thoughts?
Big truck sheet metal is all the same as a small truck. Small truck's are on the passenger car frame. Get yourself a '32 frame & build a pickup!
Built that one 1978. I put 20,000 miles on it. I sold it to Bob Rothenberg in St Louis. He flew out to California & drove it home. He's put a ton of miles on ever since!
My son and I are currently building a 32 BB into a pickup. We have the repro rails in the frame jig right now. Buy that one and do it!!!
Why not build it as a stake bed BB. Nothing cooler than Rothenberg's truck. Another extremely nice BB was owned by Pete & Jake's. It was built from a low mileage BB truck.
This^^^^^^^^ The world needs more stake bed pickups! I remember saying this when 3W Larry bought that cool red deuce truck.
Build it! I'm working on a '29AA with a Pete and Jakes four-bar front on a stock axle, Mustang steering box, spindles, wheels, brakes and full-floating dually rear end off a '60 F-350 tow truck and running a 351W ahead of an AOD (which I hope to rebuild this spring). Big trucks have stout frames and harsh rides but they can handle real truck loads. If you want a truck, build a REAL truck!
