I hate when that happens. In this part of the country with day after day of gloomy, cloudy skies and no sun it can get tough to get motivated sometimes. Once I'm in the shop I'm fine. I need the butt-kicking to get moving too.

Edit: meant to say during the winter months.

  6. Got things mocked up, then pulled the body off a couple of weeks ago. Almost ready for finish body work.
Spent today straightening the rear axle housing after all the welding...

  7. Made a tag bracket for our '47. Hung it under the bumper on a piece of belting; just need to paint the aluminum backer and the ugly tag lights flat black; but at least the lights don't show.

Never took the plates out of the envelope when I got them 30 odd years ago and was surprised to find "street rod" plates kinda remembered them being "collector" plates.

Yesterday I posted my coupe up for sale on the HAMB cars for sale.
Was nearly 50 degrees yesterday, in the low 40s this morning, but took this picture a couple minutes ago. What looks like haze is pretty heavy snow falling.
A bed cover is coming for the truck, if the weather ever gets better (though this was a pretty nice Feb here this year).

  15. I was gonna run my ancient Ansens on my Chevy Coupe (trad adjacent if you want to find it). I mounted tires and discovered that they were bent. But it makes the car roll until I wrangle different wheels.

The finished product ! the hood is installed, I had the factory prop rod to hold it up. So all is good. We are planning to hit the track again on the 31st of this month. I might strip it down and remove the hood, the outer fenders and the front bumper just for fun. Plus it gives it a whole new look . LOL IMG_0939 (2).JPG [IMG] IMG_0939 (2).JPG

  23. I installed the wiper motor back into my 57 wagon, finished all but about 6 wires and then I need to order a battery for testing purposes! And if by some miracle of miracles everything works right I will tidy things up and start welding in the next week or two. I hope....

  25. After years of harassing her, I finally took my wife out for driving lessons in my '51 Chev AD. She's always been timid about driving it, fearing she would put a scratch in it or do some other type of damage to it because it was my toy. But after convincing her it's only a pile of metal and anything can be fixed, she finally got more interested and a couple of weeks ago asked if I could "teach" her how to drive it. Spent some time in a school parking lot so she could get used to the differences between it and her late model SUV, then off we went on quiet country roads for about an hour. She did great and I'm looking forward to spending more time in the passenger seat. Not giving her a set of keys yet though!

After a three year hibernation I took out the 56 and went for a spinn, topped it off with fresh fuel and after a nice long cruise decided to change the oil while everthing was still nice and warm… I‘m always inpressed of how zippy that little 327 is…

  28. Finished up the stuff on the back of our '47; at least good enough until I can get it outside and take look to see if everything is square. Then went on and drilled and tapped holes for the visors.
