Ok so I know of Buick nail head script valve covers, Thunderbird valve covers, and Lincoln aluminum valve covers. Did any other manufactures make aluminum script valve covers? If so post them up.
This is just an opinion but, all OHV engine's should have been factory equipped with Offenhauser finned valve covers. Those damned thing's look good on everything!
70 Boss 302. 69 were chromed steel. Some of the 429 Torinos and Cyclones were aluminum, too, as were the Fox Mustang 5.0. All of these were OT, though.
Uh, those were used on the 1967 Z-28, the very limited production L-79 Chevy II and the new 350 in the Camaro.
Was the purpose sound or prestige. I read the Corvette aluminum valve covers were to silence the sound of the solid lifters.
I have had nothing but bad luck with Y blocks my whole life, but these are damn pretty, a**** the prettiest made in my opinion, and I have a set to boot. Too bad my 312` has no compression and is missing all the accessories and exhaust.
Look at that! I thought I had the only flip top valve cover oil fill, I put one my highly OT 427 small block.
