I finally got the brakes done on my 1960 Merc Monterey convertible hotrod. I'm looking for ideas for mild customizing for it I do have a pair of genuine cruiser skirts for it. I also have lakes pipes for it. Thanks

  4. Those 60' Mercury's are already so custom looking stock that in my mind it would be difficult to improve on the stock grill and taillights. What about a fade paintjob?

You sure don't see many of them out and about, at least around here.

You could get back at all the 59 Chevy guys by putting a 59 chev grille in it!! haha, seriously they are good looking cars and would benefit from all the traditional mild custom mods. Nosed and decked, shaved handles, smooth off all the name badging , lowering, wide whites on chrome reverse wheels or lancer spinner caps, bitchin tuck n roll interior with a parade boot to match....

Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing about the 59 grille.

In my opinion, as well as many other's, 60's car need minimal customization because Detroit was already taking so many styling ques from the show cars of the era. Maybe a grille using stainless tubing and move the center set of headlights closer to the outer ones by a few inches. Chrome steel wheels with skinny whitewalls would be a good look. Lower the back a couple inches and run Bellflower tips behind the rear wheels. If you want to go a little crazy, you can do dual frenched antennas on the quarter panel. Finish it off with a subtle fade paint job, nothing too crazy.
