Agreed, I love that era of drag racing, much more than todays stuff. Prostock has turned into NASCAR in a straight line and top fuel/funny car is not interesting anymore. I enjoy the nostalgia racing more, relatable and real cars out there, plus I love the look and sound of the vintage cars. The days of guys like Garlits and the Snake turning wrenches and driving are long gone, plus guys like Sox and Martin along with Jake King racing factory built cars and making them faster all the time, even the factory built super stock cars. I grew up after the golden era but around guys like Dean Mink running and building race Hemi cars. Great times

Screenshot_20230314_220900_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20230314_221406_Chrome.jpg Couple more Eckstrand. I don't think this is the 2% but it's also not his max wedge hardtop so I'm not sure wtf is going on. It's possible this was before the hemi conversion.

The Barnes Core Drilling car was driven by a very young Blue Barnes in 64-65 on the west coast. One of the first aluminum light weight factory cars to an unsponsored driver most likely due to a close relationship with **** Landy at the beginning of his own Chrysler corporation contract. The Barnes company is still in operation today.
I don't know where @dearjose is getting all these great photos but keep them coming.

Hank Taylor, "The Texas Teenager" started driving at 14 with a 63 Stage II bought from Hayden Proffitt. He did well enough to get a parts deal from Chrysler the next year and bought a 64 Aluminum Max Wedge and later the A990 for 65. With mentors like Proffitt and HL Shahan he won many races.
