Well, that started out great but got pretty heavy. Dan’s really telling the whole story, “warts and all”. I never knew Anthony, but you can tell by the photo’s that he was the life of the party.
As for Axle leaving the club, I’ve gotta say that I was shocked when he told me he had left.

Thank you for your post. I've been back a couple of years now, and when Episode 4 is shown it'll show that the club has direction , focus, and an objective. You're absolutely right that things got heavy in part 3, but we wanted this to be real. Hope everyone is enjoying this so far. All the best

I binge watched all 3 videos last night. They connected a lot of names that I have known from the HAMB but never knew the inner workings. It was a real eye opener. Dan did an excellent job telling and selling the stories. So much so, I binge watched the Stoner T videos as well.

  8. Damn.....just watched #3. I worked right around the corner from the accident site, so I saw it going to work. I stopped for a bit cause I saw the old Hotrod PU, and thought maybe it was someone I knew, but didn't recognize it. I couldn't get any info from the cops, so I left. When I got to work, I started a thread on the HAMB thinking maybe somebody knew who it was. Then I found out it was Anthony, who I spent many hours talking Hotrods, music and friends. I cried so hard...and left work. It's such a small circle of friends that when something bad happens, odds are, you know them. RIP Anthony.....Viva wasn't the same after it went from the top of the parking structure to the fenced in deal. Still a fun show, but different.

  9. If you knew Anthony, this episode is so hard to watch. Have some tissues ready....
Just curious....Axle, Marky, Kevin Sledge. I heard some time back that the Bubble-Top car Anthony built was going to be restored. Any news or confirmation on that?

Looking forward to it. Part 3 was very good, if a little dark. I lived on West St for a time, about 1/2 mile north of that intersection. And all the talk about the Doll Hut, that was a punk rock club back when I was out playing music in my teens and early 20's. Wasn't a good fit for rock bands; last time I was there was just Summer of 2021, they were doing a series of Sunday afternoon blues jams for a while.

This series is so well done, like I said before, it fills in a lot of missing info for guys like me who weren't there; even though I wasn't a part of it I can surely appreciate the joy and camaraderie of you guys; and the shock and sadness of losing such a good friend who was such a large part of the whole group, the emotions come through and bring the viewer into the story. Thank you and Stoner for including all of that.

  15. I find it very refreshing that you guys are telling the complete story, not just the good times. REAL hot rodding is not easy, if it was , everybody would do it. There is incredible high's and unfortunately crushing lows. I commend all of you for talking about both aspects of the hot rod life and how it unfolds.

Watching the documentary definitely is motivating and nostalgic for me I was 12 years old the first time going to paso. Definitely shows it takes a great group of guys with a endless wealth of knowledge to change the trajectory of our hobby.

  24. Thanks to The Shifters, Dan and all involved . Just great to see all of this, and where it is continuing to go. Seeing Anthony's car getting ready to be brought back to its glory is priceless. I raise my beer, cheers brothers!

  27. Just got done watching #4. Of course...it was amazing. Pulling back the curtain on the Shifters is revealing. But, it's great to see them pulling together and keeping the club alive. Seeing them at the GNRS was great, announcing Rob as a new member. Seeing Anthony talk about how much he loved you guys was really hard to watch. Looking forward to seeing the bubble car back to its glory. Great job Dan....

Just finished watching episode #4, bittersweet indeed, but very nessesary to tell the full story, and expertly told as well!

I feel so fortunate that as a kid, growing up in the San Joaquin Valley in the 60's, cruising around, and enjoying hot rodding.

Then many years later, being able to attend several California Hot Rod Reunions at FAMOSO, and the pleasure of meeting Squeak Bell, and partying at his place in Bakersfield, watching all of these cool videos, really makes me smile!

Thank you to all of the cool people that made it all possible!

Well said, and appreciated. This wasn't easy for anyone, but the consensus was that it needed to be done. Believe it or not this was healing. Can't wait to see the full length Directors Cut on Netflix, Amazon, or one of the similar networks. We will be posting updated progress pics of Anthony's Bubble Top as we go. Cheers

Just finished the 4th chunk. Really great work, the pacing was on the mark and the length feels pretty perfect. It’s remarkable that you fit so much into the allotted time with out it feeling bloated or slow.

    nailed it guys.

looking forward to seeing the future video work and this new chapter of the shifters.
