If you want a car exactly how you’d like it, build it. Otherwise you will always be a little disappointed somewhere along the line

Even if you have someone do the work for you. Sometimes it doesn`t always turn out how you want it to.

You’ve had the car for 4 years, I assume it runs good, hasn’t been a money pit and you’ve been enjoying it. I’ve not a clue what it’s worth now or when you bought it. But since you mentioned resell (although not likely) it’s something that’s on your mind. You shouldn’t be asking opinions, you should be scouring the internet for similar cars and see what asking prices are if it’s on your mind.
Say you can only get 25k for it now. With the car price and shipping, you been paying around 200 a month to own the car and enjoy it. Better it than buying a used Subaru for 10k and trying to sell it 4 years later.

I know that if I was at a gathering I would make a bee line to see your car. Looks great!

  6. Sounds like you may have a bit of "buyers remorse".
It's a done deal now, regardless of the initial buy in.
Time now to look toward the future with your car.

Like has been said many, many times before. NEVER buy a car without looking at it yourself or by a trusted friend, who knows about cars. If you don't you get what you get. I pulled a trailer 3 states over to pickup a car I had seen pictures and walk around video of. When I got there, there was no metal behind all the chrome trim. The trim had filled up with fine clay dust which held water and rusted the metal behind all the trim.

Of all the cars I've owned I've never "finished "one. Can't say that I've ever seen a car that didn't need something. But I've driven a lot of em on very long trips and loved it. If these old cars ain't fun then they're not worth anything

I think your criteria is at risk here. Money should be the last of your concerns. Finding a car that fits your ideal is the toughest part. Because if you buy according to price and not satisfaction you're going to be looking again soon. Make sense?

As you are looking for affirmation on your deal, it's worth is what ever you pay for it at the time the seller is willing to sell it for. That's it - that day between 2 people.... you and the seller.
Going forward that is all subject to change - daily, by the rest of the 350 million people here in the country.
That being said - you will find everyone has a opinion, either positive or negative.
I will say this, if this car or any other car makes you happy, then I'm happy for you.
Life is short - go cruising- enjoy your buddy's - be safe !

  11. If the car runs nicely and all the work is well done, this is far from a project car. It may not be completely finished but that does not make it a project car.
The way you describe it I get the feeling that you are afraid to dig deeper into the car so that you won't find any problems that makes you regret your buy. It seems that you are even afraid of putting it outside and make some decent shots of it.....
Check the car, finish everything (that's not a lot as you describe it) and drive it. Get confidence in your new car and make it yours.
From what can be seen it looks very good IMHO.

  12. My dad was wringing his hands over buying a fairly desirable 70's Mopar that he really wanted back in 2004. Seller wanted 21K. Nice car, complete and driveable and had minor cosmetic issues and just needed to have some factory parts reinstalled to replace the cheap chrome BS on the engine. If I remember correctly those cars were starting to really get hot back then thanks to all of the televised auction action surrounding a rare Hemi 4 speed convertible version that sold for 7 figures. His buddy Don finally said, in a very uncharacteristic for him choice of words, "Do you like the fuckin car or not? If so then don't worry too much about the price, it's not out of line at all and you'll be happy every time you walk into the garage."

My dad still has the car to this very day.

    RIP Don.

I've had the car for 2 days not 4 years. The 4 years ago is the side angled photo from the previous owner. It was a slight buyers remorse feeling or unknown on whether I overpaid or not... I'm learning from what others say it should be based on what I was willing to pay and what the seller was willing to let it go for.

Yea for sure there was a slight bit of buyers remorse initially but I'm flushing that out and will focus on enjoying it and giving it some touches.

Touch it up where it´s needed , make it your own and enjoy it, other than that it looks pretty damn perfect from here. If it makes you feel better just try to add up how much it would have cost you to build this car, chop, mods, bodywork, chrome, paint, interior, glass etc. and I bet you might find that you got the car and the man hours that have been put into it for almost free. 30 k is still a bunch of money, but I think you got a lot for it.

Some more photos and a video. It needs a better wash since my water is rather hard but at least gives a better glimpse of what it currently looks like.

    Cool video.
Drive it and enjoy it with friends and family.
If you started from scratch and had that all done by a shop, you would have to spend far more…..

Just do like I did. Pay fair market value, then disassemble it and strip it to bare metal, replace the rockers and front half of the lower fenders then spend another 20k and you’ll feel better.

That's a cool trick! I was also going to wipe it with a wet cloth using filtered water from my Brita pitcher...

  26. I learned that one from my dad when I had my freshly painted Cutlass at 14. We have a cement plant and limestone quarries on this end of town and vinegar is the only thing that cuts the minerals. The Calcium from our well is just as bad.

  27. To be fair,,,,your title is sort of misleading .
That is far from a project car !

I’m sure it’s not perfect,,,,and might need a little freshening up,,,,but it’s no project either.
Looks like a nice looking ride,,,,,get out and show it off to the regular folks,,,,live it up !

Thanks! Yea that's true I'm starting to understand from others responses that this isn't a project car.

I didn't show the surface rust on the inner fenders/wheel wells and the missing headliner and missing door cards, missing rubber moulding, etc.. and little knicks in the paint, and passenger side window issues that I need to fix. I understand those are all minor enough compared to what others go through to finish a car.

  29. It’s still a great car,,,even though it needs a few things.
That chop looks awesome,,,,,and it’s painted black .
Any defects at all would stick out like a sore thumb !

  30. Surface rust is nothing if the car gets driven. Hit it with some converter, spray it black and repeat as needed as it gets worn.
