Looks like a good start. I didn’t see an auction end date and time anywhere unless I’ve overlooked it. Maybe it’ll show when the auctions actually begin?
Who will mediate issues if the seller isn't completely forthcoming with hidden problems with the vehicle? Is it buyer beware or is the seller responsible to be completely honest about any issues?
Capitalism requires that the buyer always beware. I can't change that with a website. My goal is to get this thing enough demand so that I can be super picky and choosey about the cars I list, the quality of the photography, requiring video, etc... The being said, I have 30 years of experience policing deals and have a pretty good track record of doing so. A seller that misrepresents something will have a much harder time dealing with me than any other auction site on the internet... I'm sure of that.
Interface via iPhone is very easy to navigate. I’d say looking threw the photos works better than even the photos added to the end of jalopy journal posts. loaded quick everything g was easy to find located where I thought it probably would be. the copy is what sells this for me. I could look threw hundreds of these little “features” like a car magazine compared to just clicking on for sale adds and making a scan for info. I didn’t see any video which is the only thing I saw missing from initial talk about the set up. Which I may have just missed or they just don’t have any with video yet. with curated listings and strong write ups I think this will gain traction fairly quick. I’ve Shared it a few places already
I am trying to get as many people as possible to take video of their cars for their listings. We are gonna need more demand before I can demand this of sellers... But, I think we have two auctions coming soon that feature video.
will a bidder be able to contact the seller privately while the auction is live? when do you anticipate adding parts?
All communication is public and through the comment section of the auction. Some people don't like this... I like it because it keeps things on an open playing field. Not sure on parts... If this thing works and we get demand, I will add parts for sure... But it will focus on rare/cool shit rather than things like a used Hurst shifter or some shit like that.
Yes... and obviously since the site is new and we have no idea how it will perform, most guys are using reserves right now.
i can see it going both ways, if a bidder knew something that the others didn't, it might influence his bid but again, if everyone knew, it might influence everyone's bid and therefore, higher price on the vehicle.
Cool. Is this US only or open worldwide? I could imagine interest throughout Europe, with some transactions having no US involvement ( beyond hosting). The faqs mention 3.5% commission and then go on to mention the buyer pays 3%, but there is no mention of seller commission, so something not quite jiving properly in my eyes. Chris
I’m not your customer, but it bugs the hell out of me when I’m trying to look at a website on my phone and every time I scroll up at all, a giant header pops down to cover half the page…then I scroll back down to make it go away, but it’s never enough so I have to go back up and do it all over again. Just sayin.
You might want to tell us what phone you’re using? on the iPhone I don’t really get the header popping down unless I’m scrolling back to the top of the page, it covers maybe a 1/3 of the page but if I scroll even the tiniest amount back down it goes away.
Congratulations on a totally different but very useable auction site. I hope your page views are what you were hoping for
I very much like this!! Not sure my wallet or my Wife will, but....... Looking forward to seeing it grow & become a "Go To" place that benefits both seller & buyer. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
its 100% demand. People are hesitant to spend the time to take quality pics and video for a site they don’t have faith in. you gotta perform for them, before they perform for you.
