Just notch the cross member, plate it back in. Mechanical pump seem to be less problem. By the way love where this is going!!

  2. With it squared up using the clutch linkage as the starting point, the rams horn is very close to the box.
Could remove a little from the manifold mounting surface and clean up on the outlet with a grinder. 0D646F9B-3508-421D-B8FC-AADAFBF3D3D8.jpeg
I’ve located these about 2 hours from the house

Yup 55-56 manifolds are the fix for all those kind of problems...

  4. Gm trans mounts are perfect Ford replacements.

I remember a story from the thirties where some Indy cars had to get out of the race because the exh was too close to the steering sectors and prts grew with the heat making them hard to steer.... could you angle mill the manifold and get it to tip in at the bottom?

  8. I have access to do that.
    And thought about that.
I don’t like this particular manifold. Bird dogin a set of late 50s with the gen mount.
Might extend the clutch shaft 3/8-1/2 inch.
I can cut this one on the red line, cut another clutch shaft, yellow line, and then extend the clutch shaft allowing the engine and trans to move over for box clearance.

  9. I seen those.
The rear dump might crowd the master cylinder a good bit. Lots of stuff going on in the lower left corner. Brakes, clutch, shifter linkage then exhaust. 6A4DDCBA-F8B2-4A63-B390-19E96B071B1F.jpeg

  10. Now I know why everyone uses automatics

Don't for get us old farts that used to love rowing the gears but now have bad knees so using an automatic makes the car more enjoyable to drive!

  12. I had a 396 in my last Nova stock car, the driver side exhaust manifold was close to the steering box, maybe a 1/4" away. After a few impacts on the track, I all of a sudden had close to a 1/2", problem solved.

I used the 265 manifolds in my '50 Ford and they worked great. Plenty of room and kept the heat away from the steering gear. I am running a 327 so I opened the ports up to help the flow. 265 manifolds should run about $100 bucks a pair

  14. One of the caddy caps had some damage.
We started hammering those out. Should straighten out ok

a little more work then start filing.

  15. Shirts cleaning up nicely.
Just a little more metal work. Bottom corner of the passenger side needs a small rust repair.

Your secret please, Shout, or perhaps All-Temperature Cheer? Wisk worked well for ring around the collar.

2 passenger side manifolds I guess.
    Ports are around 1/8 smaller.
    Purpose for this plate?

that plate allows access to the choke heat source, maybe it was a result of how they had to cast the part originally, I know later there was a tube that passed straight thru the manifold. You can't suck exhaust fumes into the choke, it would corrode the chokes workings....

  19. Battery tray fits with these manifolds.

    too close?
Gen mount wouldn’t work with the battery here anyway.

  20. There’s an engine way down there 7D6F1EC1-4AA1-4606-A769-885D519B8F48.jpeg somewhere

you may want to move the battery box, I think you will want the generator on that side, using one of those brackets they used to make for guys with headers

  22. It has room on the passenger side.
I’m going to order one of those brackets to modify.

because that head is back further the Gen will have to stick way out past the head on that side.... up to you though, or were you talking about the batt on the pass side?? makes for a shorter batt cable

  24. Well, the engine is offset to the passenger side. That would make the battery tighter.
The bracket for the alternator/gen I was gonna use as a pattern to figure out placement.

  25. Tri 5 radiator for the win

  27. I’ll bend a couple simple mounting flanges and we’ll be good.
Bought this radiator for the wife’s 56 Chevy. I’m gonna borrow it :):)

best part is that every tri five chevy I have ever had needed nothing more than a stock 4 blade fan and no shroud and they all ran cool......
