I am was wondering how many of you out there have been offered alot of $$$ for your car and turned it down? If so why? I was just offered way more $$$ for my car than it is worth, but for some reason I can't sell it.

Am I normal or should I be comitted.

    Thanks

I was offered $15,000 for my model A pickup, $4,500 for my 27 track roadster and left nut from Evel for my 33 Plymouth coupe.

  3. Well - all depends on what the story is behind the car. Sometimes people don't understand the story behind the car & that sometimes money can't replace that. Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy

i was coming out of the local bookstore when i got offered 12,000 for my 63 cadillac 4 door and it was all stock at the time of course i love my caddy and tommy gold chainer looked like he should just stayed in the benz when i told him hell no he must be out of his mind problly should of taking it i could of bulit three for that price :D

  5. It's tough sometimes for me because I usually buy them so cheap you could never replace them at that price. But at the same time, a huge profit on it makes me wonder what else I could be buying with the money...

Its funny that this came up today I just turned down $15,000.00 for my coupe and I have been wondering if I should have sold it? It really wasnt for sale, I thought about trading it for a Roadster or something else in the 30s but hadn't listed it for sale yet and this guy called me.

I have recieved lots of wild offers for some of my cars through the years, mostly from people with no means of coming up with the cash. On a few occasoins, there have been ligitimate offers with cash backing, at times I wasn't ready to part with the particular car, but can never find those type of people when I'm ready to sell. Didn't know it was suppose to be any other way?

I know exactly how that goes. Now that there's actually a for sale sign in my truck, no one is interested.

Yes, way more then Big Olds is worth by a local millionaire businessman who has a very extensive car collection. In my circle we call it "stupid money".:D He said he wants me to finish Big Olds with what I have visioned for him then he'll be by with a briefcase. We'll see.

Dad has turned down an offer of "whatever you want" for his running and driving original 55 bel air convertible. Not quite sure what that means, but I understand it would be a lot.

I've had a few offers on my 65 comet..A few weeks ago..I was thinkin of selling the motor/trans combo out of it...so I called a friend...who repeated his previous offer of "name your price chris...i want the car...not just the motor and tranny"..I coulda used the money, and I know he'll pay my price..but after owning it since I was 15 (11 years ago, my first car)..I can't do it....could never replace what I got...

Yeah last year at a local car show, a guy offered my 42,000 for my 55 f-100. At first I nicely responded no because it was a father-son project and it had alot of sentimental value to me. Then he started offering me 40,000 and his wife for a weekend. After that I knew he was just a bullshitter and would not give him the time of day. This guy would not leave me alone for two damn days. Then he proceeds to tell me the things he dosen't like about the truck. Finally I gave in and gave him an address, 2 phone numbers, and tell him to bring a cashiers check. Naturally he is a no show. I find out afterwards that all the locals are calling me stupid behind my back for not taking the money but i guess they did not know the nature of human I was dealing with. I know that this sounds ridiculous but it is the honest truth.

  16. I had just finished my truck and an old man sees my at my buddy's work, hanging out. He asks "who owns this old RAT ROD?" I said i did and he says " I just got back from B-ville and these things are everywhere, wanna sell it?" I told him that I just built it andam not abuot to sell it. He gives me a card and says "If you ever want to sell it call me." On the back of the card he wrote a figure. I could build 2 cars for what he offered me, but it would be like selling my kid.

I turn down "stupid money" nearly every week, for our chopped 49 Merc. Took me 50 years to get one, and I ain't got another 50 years left! I'd just spend the money on broads, drugs and liquor then blow the rest!.....OLDBEET

my buddies dad was offered 40 grand for his beautiful black 57 chrysler 300. this thing was cherry. this was at a time when it would go for maybe 15 or 20 grand. he turned it down, told us all "that's where two fools met, him for offering and me for turning it down".

I still got the first car I ever owned. 1949 chevy I bought in 1976. doing it all up, hopefully done by next summer. no way I'd sell it, but I'd be glad to build them one just like it for $40.00 an hour plus materials

I have been offered some large amounts of cash in the short time I have had the car. But recently I had a serious offer of 24k and I really questioned myself for a moment . But hell NO!!!! I promised my daughter's this car will be theirs one day . And I need to finish it for them:D .

  20. I was cruising around the fiesta of the 50's in my 56 210 2dr hardtop and a guy leaned in and asked me if it was for sale. I said no but you probably wouldn't pay want I wanted if I said yes. He came back with "TRY ME", my buddy has one and know rare they are. I slid it back into first and eased the 3rd pedal out b4 I wised up. Still got it 15+ years later

    Believe it or not

I turned down an offer of six million once. Not from greed but cause I'd promised the car to a car factory for 5.5m ....... BOY I will never do it again.

The bastards backed out and then built a fake of my one-off racer with my chassis number and began to tell everyone they had the REAL car!!! I can't even begin to list the dirty tricks from them that followed

It took the Concord's crash to kill the asshole that was the counterfieder and most of the problem.

Don't ever turn away REAL money!! Specially if you have an offer comes from the guys that brought you WWII

Honest to God that's the truth

If you think this is ''Just a story" guess again!

They screw'd with me for 12 years!!!!

People ask me all the time. I wouldn't take a million dollars for my car.

  27. I would say normal. Some cars are built to sell and others are built to keep. I know the old man has already turned down offers on the Krylon car cause it's a very special car to me. :)
