Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by straykatkustoms, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. I still have the R&C with the feature where they did these mods to Spence Murray's Starliner. Of course, in those days they just dropped by the local Ford dealership and ordered all new '60 Canadian Meteor parts to do most of this. Lots of luck finding this stuff these days... LOL

The listed prices for all this stuff will make you cry now.

They did detail doing the radiused rear wheel openings (the only major mod), using 1/2" EMT. And the 'custom' interior was mostly a set of new '63 Galaxie bucket seats along with a matching rear seat cover that only needed minor mods to fit.

A great mild custom from 'back in the day'...

I know it’s just me but someone finally mounted the taillights pointing in the correct direction. Pointing the direction that the car will turn B01C645D-7831-4BF5-B8C0-80425C3F1256.jpeg

Seems strange that Edsel got its own rear bumper, but Mercury used the Ford bumper.

Kustom? I think so…I saw this at the SWMO Hot Rod 100. Built in the forties. Be kool to see it finished.

What I like best is, regardless of all the crazy changes, you can still tell it's a Studebaker. :D

  26. Interesting...these crappy phone shots are from the January, 1957 issue of Rod Builder and Customizer magazine. A guy named Frank Dallago built these and two other "sports rods". There are some differences, which could have been completed over the years, but there are some similarities as well (the far-back side louvers were the first thing that hit me), so...maybe?

(The magazine didn't mention where Frank was from, nor did they include a shot of the rear.)

Thank you for some background. It has some similarities. I was told this was built in the 40's & the trunk was a Lincoln hood. Guy was on the phone every time I went over to talk. He must have known I'm a stocker... Lol! Its a kool ride and would love to see it finished out. Maybe painted Washington blue with black wires. Oh man, would it be kool.........
