LOL! Lumpy, my comment was aimed at the Centerforce advertising B.S. not the end user, probably should have been clearer about that, please don't take offense. :D Yes, I did keep the Eddy AFB's even though Holley's would probably be better.

  3. Thanks, but I'm good, it's a 15 gallon from Rhodes race cars, they make a great product but answering questions gets lost in transition from secretary to builder. Took 3 days to answer what diameter neck it is and this is the second day of waiting for an answer about when it will ship, the covid blues must of hit them hard, always been great to deal with in the past.
The neck coming off my gas cap will be 2 inch, so I'm trying to find something close that I can get a hose to slide over both ends.

It actually has for the last 20 years in this application. Not making much boost on this deal. The 871 is more for looks and noise.

  7. I got my aluminum pipe for the gas fill neck today, just a little smaller than I expected so I think I'm going to flare it out tomorrow using a little heat and a couple of these trailer balls.

  8. I also decided to tackle this scoop to see what I have to work with. Many moons ago I remember seeing an MPH scoop at a swap meet that someone took a grinder to, I guess to try and remove the fins, if the scoop was vertical the deep gouges were horizontal, I remember saying to myself that someone really screwed that up.
A few years ago I buy a scoop from a friend of a friend, I ask why the top was black he said he liked it so he did it. I could tell it was an MPH but I'm not fluent in all the varieties but I knew there were a couple different versions, I thought it was just smooth so I paid the hundred bucks and took it home.

Later on my friend says hey I heard you bought a scoop off Bruce, he says did he tell you he filled the top with bondo to cover up some grinder marks. I say of course not, then I remember that swap meet scoop and say well I think I got screwed on this one and told him about the one I had seen, he also drilled the holes for carburetor studs to poke through.
So I came up with a plan a couple weeks ago after many ideas about welding a finned top or something over the top and wondering how that would look and figured it'd look like crap with uneven weld.
Today I started stripping it, I ended up burning the bondo out with a plumber's torch after sanding the thick paint off.

It's actually not the same one but is still kinda messed up, I think I could run a file in there to straighten it up but it'll still be wide in spots. So now I'm on the fence about doing my "big ideal" or not, think I'll do the file first and see how it pans out.

  12. Trailer ball trick worked, actually a little to well and I had to try and shrink it back down, depending on how the welder wants to do it I might flare the top out more if he doesn't want to weld all the way around the inside lip.

Took the T out for it's maiden shakedown run for this year, still runs great and peppy !
Stopped by a friend's house and he showed me a couple vintage T models ( Black Bat and the Red Devil ) it reminded me of the classic cartoon "One Cab's Family"

  17. The chevy rear bumper might make up for the grill, it's a nice touch.

  19. Somehow, before I could start on the engine swap in our 3100, I got involved in an engine swap on an International Cub LoBoy 185. The year of the tractor is O/T but the engine is a Flathead, does that still count? How in the world does crap like this happen before you get to start on a long overdue project?? Now I have to get this tractor finished and out of my shop before I start on my Chevy. Arggggg!

Went to a “coffee and yak” about 30 miles from home Saturday morning in Torrance where I lived for a few years in the 60’s. Smelled gas on the way home and found some on the fuel pump top but none dripping. Calling Monday to a company that rebuilds ones made in the USA. I had one in my stash but assume it’s chinesium made by AirTex. I’ve got some cleanup to do then I’ll put it on to run until the other one comes back. I’ll be adding studs to make it easier for sure.
