Anyone else who has ordered P&J front shock kit 6001 have a problem with the very short shackles? I went ahead and put them on to try em out and no way Jose! So I had to order new shackles today with the shock stud, got the posies from speedway which are a tad longer than my stock ones. Just wondering why they would have such short shackles?
Isn't the shackle supposed to be more horizontal Dan? I have always went with the 45⁰ angle on my shackles. Seems to me like your spring is too long?
With no weight on it they were at about a 45. But this was with the jack under the axle putting pressure on it. It is the stock spring so that tells me the shackles are way too short. At least I think??
Here is a snippet from the P&J spiel for the #6001 kit. I have highlighted the bits that might be your problem in red....... And, the kit is for 1942-48. Isn't yours a '41 ??? Part #6001 1942-48 Front Shock Kit Part#: 6001 Description • Aftermarket narrow axles. • Posie spring. • Lower stance. • Original sway bar must be removed.
It is a 41, but it says in the instructions will work on 41 as well. I'm not trying to ***** or out down the company, just wondering why the shackles are so short as stockers are longer.
I know my 46’ has a posies reverse eye and there’s no way the short shackles would work. Gotta get the long ones.
Did you call Jason at P&J, He can probably answer your question? Maybe somebody put the wrong shackles in the kit.
Given your pictures, I'm wondering what angle long shackles would be? Spring length + shackle length = ?
The OP is running the stock '41 spring. He says so in post #4. The P&J kit is for "aftermarket narrow axle and Posie spring" (see post #9) I don't think the kit will work straight out of the box when using a stock spring. He may also have the wrong shackle arms in his kit.
