    I got “the well” in our Bug. Same effect except that horsehair loop carpet was seriously itchy. I fell asleep back there many nights on the way home.

    Ray Kroc’s first restaurant in Des Plaines, IL after he bought the name from the McDonald brothers. It opened in 1958.

  26. I never had a problem with the horse hair since I'd have a blanket to lie on. I never forgot the smell though. It seems a lot of German made cars had the same smell. I never knew the reason for the peculiar smell until I got my first Mercedes. It had the same smell as the Bug I remembered. Then I was told it was from the horse hair that was used in the cushions.
