Hello,

By the time the 1957 factory Fords came out with the "extra" power of 312 hp and that factory centrifugal supercharger, they were formidable in the stock class competition. Even against the factory fuel injected 57 Chevy sedans. Then some of the 57 Chevy sedans moved to another classification as each year brought on new power for the latest cars from the factories.

In our A/Stock Car Class, there was this Black 57 Ford that gave us fits every time we lined up against each other in the practice runs or elimination races.

Here, my brother starts slowly against the 57 ford sedan, but catches him half way down to win the race.

The thing with this black 57 Ford Sedan racer was that, he knew if he could get a lead, the power he had would give him the win. But, in this other film of the same 57 Ford, he chose the wrong guy to race for some extra cash in an intermission spectator event.

Confidence helps in any situation, but a 300 hp Ford versus a 335 hp 4 speed 1959 El Camino was chewing off a little too much as he found out… YRMV
