Picked up another 59AB yesterday and found this on it. Did a Google search and found they went out on 1962 , just thought it was cool. IMG_20230509_140218566~2.jpg Screenshot_20230509-140129.png

That is pretty cool and 1962 was way to hell and gone before the Mustang cars showed up.

There were a lot of regional engine rebuild shops back in the 50's and early 60's. As the add said, it was a lot faster than having your bay in the shop tied up for the days that the engine was being rebuilt. You could roll that flathead powered rig in at 8 in the morning and often as not have it ready to deliver to the customer with a fresh engine at noon if you had the rebuilt sitting there.

Cool tag. As said, a lot of rebuilders around in the 60s. Dad had a salvage from '60-90 and we could never have enough good used engines available to meet demand. One of the semi-local rebuilders would provide us a vatted and bored block along with a turned crank and bearings to fit as well as rings, pistons if we wanted. We would build a short block and add our heads from our used exchanges, after a fresh valve job. So we could provide a complete swap engine by using the pan, covers, brackets etc from the used exchange sales. A lot cheaper than the shops that paid for others labor, shipping etc, and we made more money. Good times.
