Ahh , No laughs here. You built it, you are driving it, and you are going to run it. That is a win win win! :)

Thanks brother ;) I just went out and changed the secondary spring to the white one. See how it does, hopefully no bog.

It is a small place and they do have it for the foreseeable future.

In regard to the use of Ethanol in aircraft engines, the most common problem is the phase separation of Ethanol added gasoline which occurs when the aircraft is flying at different al***udes and temperature changes. The Ethanol gasoline breaks down and water forms which can flood the engine. Not a good thing because the engine can quit. Both Continental and Lycoming continue to build LL100 powered engines. Both are experimenting with diesel power.

Look up the original version from 1961 or 2. It’s hilarious! The Goldcoast Singers!

I've been using Torco Accelerator and am happy with the results, no detonation w/11.25 CR. It seems to stabilize the gas (93 octane E10) over the winter, too. YMMV :D

And to think I was crying about $5.35 a gallon Union 76 108 octane for my daily driver El Camino back in the early 80s!

Hey Lloyd, wanna make more power? Not trying to break your balls but, the A/F distribution on that manifold with a single 4 top is really bad. Not sure how the rest of your engine is built but, a 2 x4 top has a lot better distribution even if over carbureted. Or wake it up with good dual plane.

Yeah I got over that a while back, it's a dual plane weiand now. Much better. I sold both single 4bbl tunnel rams.

Back home, last night I closed the choke plate ever so slightly, put the short white spring in the secondary. About 5000 it's got a little bit of stumble. Pisses me off. 20230523_100107.jpg

Serious question here, should I unhook the vacuum advance and go try it? My distributor has the adjustment in the vacuum advance and I never checked the timing after I hooked up the vacuum.

If the throttle is wide open the vacuum advance isn't doing anything at that time.

When it hits 5000 it starts that popping ****, I can lift a tiny bit and it quits, or shift and it quits

Just making sure. I believe the screw in the advance is backed all the way out so it advances quicker, is that correct? It has the least amount of resistance the way its set right now

Maybe when momma gets home from work this evening I'll get her to ride with me and video what it's doing so I can show everybody.

Gotta be the fire breaking down, right? Is it the dang coil? It was horrible with the hei, put this distributor in and made it 10 times better. Or, does the fact that i can let off of it a little and it straightens up man that it's leaning out? Never in my life did I think that a 283 would need any more gas than I'm giving it. It has stock power pack heads with 1.72 valves lmao!

36⁰ at around 2800 rpm. With the vacuum advance unhooked.

Speak plugs look good, #1 and #2 anyway. Ash mark is just before the bend on the ground strap.

Stock, all he did was check them, don't remember the seat pressure. But it's not valve float in my opinion, if I let up on the pedal it'll continue to climb up the tach
