It's ready to hit the road brother! Gotta finish getting door glass in it for the drag race though.

Probably sling a rod out of it at the race track and be balls to the wall getting an engine in it for Bowling Green lol

  5. I couldn't find a fuel hose that was 2 inch to 1.75 inch, lots of straight 2 inch and 2 inch to 1.5 inch, so I cut the threaded section off of the filler neck

    20230417_160951.jpg

And welded on an exhaust reducer that was 2 inch o.d. to 1.75 i.d., not supposed to be welding but I got it done complete with a blow through and fill it back in.
My auto helmet doesn't work after getting a nice flash in the eyes lol, so I used an old school flip, which didn't help matters.

    20230517_174214.jpg

Then I gave the weld a liberal coat of epoxy that I had used on that intake I had the corrosion spot on, tomorrow I'll give it a coat of paint and source a 2 inch hose to call that job done.

I put a door back on the Corvette, and got the latch installed and working. Not much, but it's nice to have at least one moving part on the car functioning again.

I also am doing a front brake job.

It's pretty bad, but good enough for me. Yeah, I got lucky. There is more missing than I thought, but most of that isn't too hard to find, I think.

about 1/3rd of the hardware is missing....I don't know how people do that.

  12. Marked out and ready to cut some fins, think I might try the hole saw method again

Installed the previously owned clutch and the newly resurfaced (80 grit on an orbital) flywheel on the 318 for the ‘64 Barracuda project. The four speed is bolted up and engine and transmission sitting in the car. IMG_4436.jpeg

Tomorrow the Th400 goes back in my 49 Buick. Hope it lasts more than the 4 miles it went last time.

Back in the '70's I worked as a mechanic at a local dairy. We "surfaced" many heads, exhaust manifolds, and flywheels by rubbing them on the concrete floor of the shop when time or budget issues prevented sending them out to the machine shop.

  17. I actually think the flywheel was new, it was painted green. It came off an engine that had been used as a training aid for assembly/disassembly at the college here. I sanded the paint off and it looked perfect

Fiddling with plastic....glued the console back in. I love the way this stuff looks in these cars, with the wrap around stainless trim running around the seating area.

I'm helping my cousin with his 32 5 window, that he has owned since 1964. It was a C/Altered, ran infrequently at Pittsburgh International Dragway until it closed. Typical East coast rod, channelled, no chop.

  26. Just finished rebuilding my AOD with tons of help and advice from fellow Missourian Saltflats. Now I need to put the transmission together with the 351W I rebuilt last year, get the slippery fluids in both, the coolant in the engine, wire it, plumb it for fuel, jury-rig an old Explorer radiator to cool it while I break in the engine and just see whether I screwed up and where. I'm on year 49 of this project. Didn't expect it would take this long when I started it back in June 1974. I apparently have been suffering from delusions of adequacy.

Moved a 4x8 table in the basement and regained access to the file cabinets. Lots of stuff I forgot I had and plan to turn into project funds.

  28. image.jpg This is the engine and transmission we picked up at French Lake Auto Parts today for our 1950 3100 project. Now, I just have to finish the engine installation into Little Truckdoctor’s Cub Loboy 185 to free up shop space. Do you guys know if the front fenders and grille will come off of a 1950 Chevy truck in one piece, or do I have to disassemble it?

  29. They should, Td. They will on a Buick. One CAN'T remove the bell housing from a Buick as has been done on that Chevy. Lot more must be removed first.
