I’ve seen a couple of things here and there for steering solutions. Is there a consensus on what is the best way to solve this and/or which adapters are best to use?

I think it depends on how severe the angle you need to over come is.

Is rotating a steering rack possible to get the shaft pointing to the front of the truck rather than the rear?

Sorry no. It would be too hard for my to even explain. But it’s neat. Maybe someone else can explain it to you

I think as Fuzzy mentioned, it really depends upon what angles you're working with. My steering trials and tribulations are well do***ented in the build thread...Cliff's notes are that I could not make 70 degree Borgeson's work w/o binding and used Isuzu parts as suggested here.....

I also struggled with possibly rotating the rack, but it seemed like a serious chore well beyond my welding skills.

The Steer Clear product probably would have worked for me except that I saw no way to use it and also be able to tilt the cab.

I have seen your build and like the steering solution. I’m having trouble finding the Isuzu parts, I’m sure I’m just searching the wrong terminology or something. My cab will not be tilting so that part isn’t a concern. The flaming river parts look nice but they are crazy expensive.

1998-2002 Isuzu Rodeo. I didn't have too much trouble finding 2 of them here. That's one advantage of everything rusting really fast here in New England.

I'll see what I can find. Hoping for a newer part though. Those haven't been made in a long time and this truck will be a daily driver.

I wouldn't be concerned about their age at all. It's a stupid simple part... 2 pinions in an aluminum housing.

The part that Wetskier is referring to is called a steering transfer box. They were used on Hondas and a few others. Not to hard to find.

  17. I believe Honda P***port, which was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo.
20-25 year old parts can be hard to find in my neighborhood due to rust, in other parts of the country, they may be easier to come by.

Found a place that has new ones for Honda p***port (rodeo). $690.00. I’ll keep looking for used ones.

    Hi,

old thread but I solved steering issue with Isuzu power steering box (898232087). I also use electrical power steering pump from Volvo C30. Small mods needed to steering box to cut mounting brackets and add new ones. Also drag link is modified to accept eyeball joint. This setup fits to original ch***is and frame. Steering is very light and can be adjusted with potentiometer.[IMG]
I can send more pics if needed.

Nicely done! Is the drag link attached to the stock Ford setup on the end opposite the pitman arm?

Yes. It would be better with bolt eye style but too much work to do such a mod.
