I'm off today to socal to see about getting the engine and gearbox....another adventure!

Meanwhile, I've been working on the brake lines. They all got cut, so I'm making new ones.

and fiddling with the sort of shiny parts as well.

  3. No hard top huh? At least no hold downs. This car reminds of my old 60, had been painted but sat for years with parts in boxes. It’s like a cool puzzle.

I have a nice steering wheel that's missing the hub. So is that one. Thanks for the tip.

  8. All the venders have the hubs and bells and the fake rivet/screws to hold it all together

Lol. I was watching Merlin’s old school garage yesterday. He needed brass slotted pan head screws to use on a Model A. Today’s stores as we know don’t carry that type stuff much these day’s. So Merlin brazed dab’s of brazing onto the heads of phillips head screws then cut a slot with a hacksaw.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but working on the instrument panel/cluster is a barrel of fun. You may want to get it all together before seat installation, and you'll still feel like a Mercury astronaut working under there. Subscribed.

  15. If you install a new dash pad be very careful where you trim it! Think it thru and measure 15 times. I only measured 10 times and had to throw away a new one:mad:

Colin set me up with a great old steering wheel, that has the hub. As well as the bellhousing, transmission and some other goodies. Thanks so much!

Heading to the machine shop in the morning to see about the 327.

His Vette is really neat... Getting some good ideas from it.

If I had that vette I could see all kinds of mission creep setting in on me.

That's why they make duct tape ;)

  19. Jim just drill the wheel to hub rivets out and use countersunk allen screws/bolts to reinstall. The fake rivet/screws they sell can be hard to get tight and next to impossible to remove

  20. I thought about a little patch job but it would be right in front of me when i was driving, i knew it would drive me insane

I have major plastic fantastic envy. Scratchy, green, resiny, jealousy. I have yearned for a C1 my entire life (post puberty), but such is life's great chaos that I like pizza/beer even more. Hence, I cannot fit in one, I am therefore forced (chose) to live through you @squirrel. So far, I am pleased. Entertain me!

I'm either cursed or blessed that I can't drive those. I even have a rough time with 2nd gen (just for you Mark) unless their coupes. 3rd? In there like swimwear! And I can't afford my midlife crisis, so that's that.

Fuck, sometimes I wish this place stopped at 1971...:(

early corvettes with hardtops are tough to get in and out of, but I have plenty of room once I am in mine. I am 5' 11" and 185 lbs. I did put a smaller dia (cragar) steering wheel in mine just because....
