I don't really "like" these photos because of all the heartache they depict, but they do chronicle the vision that people held for a better life. I hope they found it.
The documentary film, "Boys of Bonneville" clearly one of the best to watch. Great shot of the Mayor of SLC !
King's Shropshire Light Infantry. From Wikipedia. The King's Shropshire Light Infantry (KSLI) was a light infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in the Childers Reforms of 1881, but with antecedents dating back to 1755. It served in the Second Boer War, World War I and World War II. In 1968, the four regiments of the Light Infantry Brigade (the KSLI, Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and Durham Light Infantry) amalgamated to form The Light Infantry, with the 1st KSLI being redesignated as the 3rd Battalion of the new regiment. Pacific Coast Highway Hello, One our favorite drives in the Hollywood/Los Angeles areas is the 20+ mile road trip West to the ocean on Sunset BRRoulevard. We all liked to go to Hollywood Blvd and the parallel street, Sunset Boulevard. It was a place where there was a gathering almost every night in the summer and movies playing that were not available in Bixby Knolls, or anywhere in Long Beach. Teenagers-20 somethings from all walks of life from just about everywhere, during our 1966-76 timeline. But, after walking/driving around the whole area just absorbing the atmosphere, buying LP records for a super discount prices was worth the drive. Then, our usual continued road trips included a drive West to the ocean. It was on Sunset Blvd heading West. It winds through some of the nicest areas of West Los Angeles and into other communities as well. It does curve a lot and remembering to stay on Sunset Blvd. leads anyone doing this cool drive to stop at the crossing PCH at the sandy shoreline. Jnaki For a nice romantic dinner with a restaurant right on the oceanfront, Gladstone’s cannot be beat. It is/was the hangout for anyone that wanted a nice dinner on the sand. This could be the end of the Sunset Blvd road trip for a nice dinner adventure. But, continuing North along the coast is one of the most beautiful drives in So Cal. It is a must do, but with caution to the oncoming traffic and the distraction of the blue ocean diversion. Just to the right of the Sunset Blvd./PCH intersection one turns right going North to the restaurant and continues up the coast to the Malibu Colony. The world famous Surfrider State Beach and the fabulous Malibu Point Waves come crashing through with any Southern Hemisphere swell, usually during the Summer season. The coastal road may seem heavy, but for us we usually take it during the off season as we have seen the sights and beaches a million times since 1960. But the capper to the cool Sunset Blvd. drive could end at the restaurant since it is for late night cruising to top of a Hollywood/Sunset area experience. YRMV If by chance one continues on the PCH coastal cruise, this video best portrays the whole ocean/highway cruise feeling anytime…
