Finished cutting down the hood sides, need to weld the hinge on and some finish metal work. Also built the drain pan for the roll down back window. D33DB812-FAA7-4B0A-B35B-18A743C171D2.jpeg F47A0357-D4C1-4739-A03D-172ED7D0D515.jpeg

Hopefully you won the kid over to this lifestyle of being broke but having fun with old cars. It reminded me of taking a co-workers son for a ride in my Chevelle I had several years back. Pretty sure it ruined him as well. :D

Oh, and everything I have been working on lately is O/T or house project stuff so I am ready to get back to one of my old cars soon...

Man my car has been dripping oil more faithfully than even a flathead should. Drivers side. Popped the hood today and steering box had oil on it, etc. Scratched my head. Checked head bolts, all perfect. No oil in antifreeze or vice versa. Car runs great. Scratched my head some more. I've checked the oil three times this week, but check again, then realize how stupid I am.

Damn dip stick gasket was gone. Twenty five cents later for a new gasket, problem solved.... Lol. Occam's razor at work...

  9. Worst part was trimming the pcv slug back to the penciled circle without cutting through and radiusing the breather so it all can coexist

I paid far too much for headlights just to get a ford logo on them, and then broke the tab off the back of one plugging them in. Solder iron to the rescue.

Finally, the transmissions are swapped out, the trans crossmember and mount are bolted in place. And the engine is leveled up and centered. Now I can start on the new engine mounts to clear the headers and steering box. But first I need to mount the fan, radiator support, and new radiator to make sure there's no more surprises. 20230606_181924.jpg

Air conditioners. Sick of the heat. On the lighter side how about a big box with a blower on top in a 54 chevy. 13653068_1242913132399637_7425828885749293027_o.jpg

Going to the storage shed to pull front backing plates for the 32. Need to figure where brake hose brackets will reside. Them’s are in plain site but while there, I’ll need to pop a few boxes open to find trans mount plate that goes above it. (just opened the shed and…)
Oh wait, some dummy wrote on the boxes! :) 22EED1F8-DEB2-4783-B33E-6B1E04B409A7.jpeg

You sound like my Dad. Tools alway’s neat, but his stuff. Unmarked boxes. It was great when he had a photo graphic memory. But when that went away…

My 55 drives like crap. Always has. I took my off topic muscle car I am building to the front end guy down the road and he prescribed tie rod assemblies. You wouldn't believe the change. So I took the 55 for a diagnosis. Bad steering box. So now I have found one and the shaft is bent. I'm wondering if I can true that shaft enough to make it work. It sure is smooth. I have to try it.

Crank steering is an option if you make things worse. :)

Pulled this thing out this afternoon to put a bigger cam in. I was in a hurry trying to meet a deadline when I put it together and couldn’t wait on a cam that worked well with the blower. So...hoping this cam works better after I waited a month to get it. I should know early next week once I get it back together and back in. Nice break from my real job getting to do stuff like this at work.

Had the underside and some crevices cleaned to prep for paint. Time spend a few hours blowing out all the media.
