Do you @Hotrod31A have a link to the RJ Chassis you picked? If so I would like to look at it. Model A Hot Rod Coupe's RULE! Glenn
Hope this link works. Check his discounts he offers, may save you some money. https://rjays.com/ I ordered the complete chassis, exactly like the black A he has pictured on his website. You can option as you please and if you call Cory he is very helpful and will modify and build anything you can dream up.
Great looking build brother! Brings back lots of memories on my coupe build. Doing lots of sheet metal and rust repair on my 56 build right now so I feel your pain on all the welding, grinding etc. Short term pain for long term gain!
Thanks! I’ve went from “not sure I can do this “ to “ hold my beer and wheres my cutoff wheel?” In about 16 weeks.
Spent the week cleaning up the driver’s door chop lines and some rot on the frame. Wasted the past two days chasing paper thin sheetmetal and blowouts on the old chop lines with the tig. Finally today broke out the sheetmetal and started cutting the janky out , then things started moving in the right direction , much quicker with better results. slow but steady….
It’s been a minute, as everyone says life gets in the way. Big day today as we finally picked up our Rjays chassis. I can’t be any happier with this decision as it’s exactly what I was targeting. Cory has been very helpful to offer suggestions and he was spot on, it has definitely been worth the wait. Unfortunately we are in the middle of a move from Texas back to Kentucky so the build will be on hold until the new shop is built and everything gets moved. I can’t hardly wait to finish this thing.. The Texaco gas pump jockey stole the show…
Running gear paint and assembly in preparation for the first body fitting. Need it to be a roller so I can move it soon.
Everything is coming along very well! Brake lines looking good from what I see. Got any detail pics of them?
I'm in the same scenario myself - although I have seen others run the brake lines across the rear. But with the movement of the rear, it seems running the brake lines across the shock mount above would be much better and solid. Besides, running brake lines in and around the ladder bar mounts could be a bit tricky... Like Brent, I appreciate your detailed photos as well - thanks alot!
Just an observation: I hope the gussets on the rear spring hangers don't interfere with the frame rail c-notch at full travel. I've seen that happen when the gusset is welded right at the top of the diff tube. They look like JW rails.
First progress on the body in many months, passenger door jamb repaired and fitted with new hinges. Feels good to back at it even though it will be short lived due to the upcoming move to the new garage. Still hinge work left but on the right path.
First fit of the body to frame, good enough to bolt down for the move. Gives me some energy to get moved and finish this thing!
I always felt a Model A coupe looked its best with a '32 Ford chassis - end of story... Great looking hot rod @Hotrod31A!
Looking good! Great metal work. I dread doing the same on mine when I eventually want some nice paint... It's pretty rough.
Thanks, I like the sheetmetal work but dread the tedious bondo work. Still undecided about paint but leaning towards the vintage looking flat luster style paint.
Another big step today, finally had the ole girl media blasted and primed. Holy moly!!! She has quite a story to share, once shotgunned, swiss cheesed by rust and a slew of half assed repairs over her life. Many hours of panel beating and welding in our future together.
