  1. It looks like it's mounted on a spare tire mount, for fun; that the parachute was never used during racing.

Thanks for confirming that - thought as much but it's been a while since I've seen it.
@sgtlethargic - some background for you. The original builder of that '34 was one of the early members of the Minnesota Street Rod Association (formed in 1967!) who passed away too young. I never knew him but over the years have heard many great stories about what a fun-loving character and well-loved guy he was. So yeah, the drag chute would certainly fit that type of personality, just for fun as @Moriarity said.
I think the car stayed in the family for quite a while after his passing. Wasn't aware it had a new owner and I'm happy to see it's being so well cared for now. Again, this is a cool thread highlighting the best kind of get-together - just for the fun of it - and proving that traditional rods and customs are alive and well in the Gopher State!

most remove them on fender less cars.
I have seen one photo of one car from the’50’s of them left on and one red roadster recently, with them on, and I have left them on mine. ….So that makes 3 ! - sorry @HOTRODPRIMER

I am currently changing the fuel tank on mine, and had already decided that I will now leave them off………

apologies to @Moriarity for distracting from his thread….bttt
