Just going to say its not a paint by numbers set, and alot of factors need to be figured for a exposed motor to make it look right.

    What color is the car?

It all depends on the overall look of the car. MG Maroon is a good hot rod colour for a SBC, but doesn't work great if your car is yellow.

I've got one that's red in my white car, and one that's black in my red car. I like Chevy orange, but it's not mandatory.

Lancelot turquoise! 20210810_193508.jpg biased opinion for sure but great color.

If you want more traditional, hot red or chevy orange. Black is ok if there's some shiny speed parts on it to balance out

    Do what YOU like.

I have an issue with color, there are a few I really like for the body of the car but nothing seems to look as good in my head (long term) as black.

With my 327, I am going with a slightly different hue than stock... otherwise, white as crazy as that sounds could work with my car. That mid 60s Chevy pickup blue green or whatever it was... (if I could find the right one... I'd do that, too).

Point is... think about what you like and do what YOU want. There's enough of the world telling us what to do on a daily basis, even on the HAMB. However the choice is yours, have fun with it.

Not a '32, but my '31 is a Model A green with black fenders-the motor is black.

    I guess I’ll go yellow and say it’s a 265. 5F934D71-E697-4090-8582-3A8A40CA3C78.jpeg

I just finished another chopped deuce highboy sedan and painted the motor the same color as the front axle, spring, spindles and rear end. It's a dark burgundy color. Powder coated the suspension and color matched the motor and trans.

Had two cars that were orange and so were the powerplants. Kinda overwhelming.
Last few sbc’s were black. No imagination at all.

What’s the rest of your color choices for body, firewall, interior, and rims?
That will help in suggestions for your particular ride.

Not a 32, not a 60 engine, not a roadster.......but as an example with a black body (Wimbledon White firewall), the mill is the dreaded "anything but black" black ;) and no chrome.

Forgot about this look. Everything on the outside was black if it wasn’t shiney.
Not sure I’d ever do that again though.

look in the Ford parts catalog - standard replacement engine………I forget the actual part number, but someone on here will know it…….

  27. Well sure. That sounds like a good idea.

But what's going to happen when a random stranger tells you he doesn't like it?

I 'm pretty sure Tom McMullen (RIP) knew that part number but sadly he's no longer with us.
