  5. I don't think it's a 48 Hillman Minx, I'm pretty sure it's older than that, and that's not a Red Ram Hemi, it's a British Hemi.

  8. J ANSEN, I guess it is a 48. Sure looks different with everything removed. That Hemi sure looks small in the picture. I stand corrected.

  9. Back in the early 1960's Joe Allevo ran a Pontiac powered 1948 Hillman convertible at Connecticut Drag-way.
Sometimes when he accelerated from the starting line Joe had tremendous front tire shake. The last that I knew, the Hillman was in New Hampshire being re-stored as a race car.

Great stuff hoodlums...my apologies for my absence...

Good eye Chester...maybe Jeep...Despite modern frameswaps being taboo around here it was certainly done back then as part of the big picture and for similar reasons many times...that'd make it an oddball at that, just part of the incredibly diverse things going on in Hotrod. I wonder if the Rodder put a Turtledeck on the round out the package?

The cast 2x4 manifold would visibly immediately discount it being a Daimler 'hemi' as no such manifold has ever existed for either version of the Daimler V8.

The belt line on the cowl was removed too it seems...like so many projects it looks to have never been finalized...the running boards are absent which may have been a part of the plan...

Being VW was around since 1937 or so and they were so narrow that certainly makes your observation a distinct possibility and a really strange choice for this hybrid of sorts...

I did a search of several periods of the VW and I believe it not to be the donor...so many choices out there with offshore brands certainly an option as they were here as well...

Obviously the headers weren't uncorked much. Nice Custom Rod. Deep channel so they needed all the top they had.
