Running Auburn bias look BR70 and 10.00-15 Rocket Wheel (china) came with the car 15x4.5 15x8

Was dead set on going to Wheelsmith OEM chrome 15x5 and 15x6 and changing back tire to Auburn 8.20-15

Got so many compliments this weekend saying not to change…..do I just leave it alone…?

Also plan to change headlights to guide 903 and go back to stock light bar. Ignore my buddy in the background :)

I love the style but they are so shiny that they draw your eye before you see the whole car as a unit.
When you put your car and DDDenny's car one above the other you see wheels first and then car with yours and you just see the whole car as a unit with his. That is the only fuss I have with them, in that they turn the car into their background in the photo, at least from that angle. Little AH 32 roadster.jpeg DDenny 32 roadster.JPG

what’s your take on the wheel/tire situation Krylon? Also guides or stock lights?

I've done 2 deuce roadsters with the real pin drive ko wheels so they have my vote. There is quite a selection of those at Vintage Wheels San Diego. Your current wheel setup is not my style, a little non HAMB friendly. also can't beat American Rebel Polished Sprints that look like Halibrands, timeless. I like either head light and have ran them both and am struggling which one I will use on my current highboy project. I just traded for a deuce pickup that has Guides. I will confess my first 3 fendered deuces back in the 70's had stock headlight bars because I didn't know there was another way.

nice to have compliments, - were you at a street rod event ?
    - you asked for opinions, - so don’t be offended.
    - to me they are too modern looking and I don’t see anything traditional about them.
As said, they distract from a nice looking car.

personally I would go with steel rims or something like @DDDenny ‘s car.
But then I would also put door handles on it to finish it.
Let us know what you decide…….

another thought, blast or paint the center of the current wheels the argent of the other wheel. Keep the rim polished.

Compliments? The value of them depends on who they are from.
    Ditch the wheels.
Keep the dropped headlight bar. That's a hot rod thing.
Guides? A period upgrade to sealed beam lights. Hot rodders used smaller than stock lights. Restorers, street rodders and people who either forget or don't know that hot rodders actually got rid of the big stock lights use stock ones.

Oh, and 7.50 will be plenty big enough for the rear.*

*Sorry, that is on a 16" wheel.

Thanks X38. I agree on the lights. I’ve spent countless hours here on the hamb educating myself which is what brought me to the guide 903s

just gotta make a final call on the wheels. The answer probably lies with multiple sets :)

Black Steelies would cover up the disc brakes
Big n little blackwalls to give it a little more rake. Definitely Guides on the dropped bar
The wheels that are on it look like they are made out of Chineseum

Exactly!! Chineseium. That’s why they have to go. I agonized considering black wheels ultimately I decided against because to me it’s too much black for my personal tastes.

I like chrome rims my self, even just painted ,stripped with beany cap,,or old style alum slots{ early 60s}.
Those newer ones are nice, but they are a bit too new style for me at least.
The big thing I see, way off I think !> , is using trendy big headlights :confused:see way too much now days. We did not use on hotrods in the 50/60s. Those type big lights were put in the trash can.;) Thought of as junk, ugly an didn't work for ****, But 7 inch sealbeams did work/looked more race like { hotrod} ! Even the law in most USA states said ,must use 7in. sealbeam bulbs. The new fake big lights now do light the road, but that dose not real change history*,that we did not use those big old ugly things because they did not work for ****. So if trying to get better real hotrod look, first get those big lights, off*=They stick out more then the rims* do as "Do not belong on a real hotrod."
It seems to be way too trendy now also, for those with the tons of $$$$$$ to get rare rims,or some that look the same, of super high $$$ rims that were used very rarely, near unattainable for most hotrod guys back in the day. When I see any of those, first thing comes to mind=Not likely. Even though I like the 1000s of combo's of things that made up the parts on real hotrods off 50/60s,when I was building my self, in the 50 n 60s.:D:cool:

    Good choice of wheel size.
I have 15 x 8.20 on my sedan, about the same overall diameter as 700/750 on 16”

It's the HAMB, that's as safe a bet as the Vegas Golden Knights winning the Stanley Cup in 2023.

I really wish wheelsmith would make a chrome OE (outside nub) wheel with vents. Really frustrating…… probably gonna just end up with a set of torque thrust style wheels. Has anyone tried US wheels for chrome OE wheels?

American rebel back spacing does not work for me. Real Rodders are offshore now an they have zero inventory and no idea when anything might show up. I’m sure vintage wheels would make me something great but my budget can’t handle $3500 for a set. I thought about chrome slots for a second but couldn’t sell myself on them. Ok I’m done ranting :)
