Hello, Having grown up in So Cal since 1946 and acknowledged various coastal cities in all of our activities from being a tourist, a family beach event, wandering as a couple of college kids in an old neighborhood to the last vestiges of having a dinner stop over from a long road trip in 2018, we are well acquainted with Manhattan Beach. We always used this local city and its proximity to the LAX airport location as a stop over, to let the traffic die down before we headed home to South Orange County, an hour or so away. It allowed us great dinner choices and a nice stroll on the pier. On our road trip stop overs, our preferred route South, is PCH from Santa Monica area and points North past the LAX crowds down through the coastal cities. Manhattan Beach being one of our favorites. Several times, a nice dinner and stroll allowed the crazy 405 freeway traffic that is always prevalent by the LAX airport surroundings to get less hectic so we could have a nice drive home. But, sometimes we just did not want to fight the freeway traffic and took PCH for a nice coastal drive all along the waterfront/shoreline to South Orange County many miles away. Jnaki For those that are not So Cal locals, the above photo looks old, but the items in the actual photo make it not 1928. The security officer is not in a 1928 uniform. The whole photo time period looks as if it is during the mid-late 60s with the VW bug peaking out of the alley way, the bicycle styles and other cars parked on the main drag leading to the pier. 1950s
Manhattan Beach is one of our favorite areas to visit when in SoCal, my wife loves the beautiful roses and flowers along the strand near the beach. I made a typo, certainly not a 1928 picture.
