I seen mention of this carb on a post. Few questions. How rare or hard are they to find, how much can I expect to pay for one, and how well to they work. Let me say I want it for the nostalgia so I'm not worried if there are better ones as long as it's not a total dog.
http://www.carbkitsource.com/carbs/tech/Stromberg/4A.html The Stromberg 4A Aeroquad was produced from 1952-1954 and was Stromberg's only four barrel carburetor. It was used exclusively on Buick V-8 engines. The 4A was probably the first four barrel carburetor, appearing shortly before the Carter WCFB . For a while in the 1950's it was a favorite of hot rodders.
I just got one, the problem I think will be getting it rebuilt. I haven't found a rebuild kit for one yet nor anyone willing to attempt the rebuild- and I don't trust myself with it either. The carbs themselves are still out there though.
Say what? Weren't all Buick I8s overhead valve? At least all I've ever seen. But yes, the Stromberg Aeroquad was OEM on the last Buick I8s. jack vines
