from what I am told putting a dashpad on these is a difficult job... good news is, once done you can put the windshield on and it will instantly look a lot more like a car!!!

That's why I'm doing it...yeah, it's a pain, and I expect I'll screw up something. But I'll get it done.

Took the day off today to get some things done . Worked on my buddy Vito"s 406 , degreed the cam and bolted the heads on. Mid day had to go check on my Mom cause she wasn't answering the phone, Drove the Vette over and thankfully she is fine just pretty deaf.. On the way home I found a clear stretch of freeway and downshifted into 3rd and wound it to about 6800 and banged 4th,it actually spun the tires pretty hard and got fairly sideways:p It actually scared me a little...Shit , I must be gettin old:rolleyes:

  13. I picked up a frame a few months ago. I plan on putting one of these bodys over on it, and then doing a two door conversion. I am going to drag another one out of there today, it's a 2door 210 post.

I got the windshield in the Corvette yesterday, so now I'm back to the drivetrain...pulled the transmission and clutch out, replaced the flywheel (the big one didn't quite fit the old bellhousing properly), and put it back together. The shift linkage got a little massaging, too. I think I need to bend one rod just a bit more....to clear the new speedometer cable.

My cam finally showed up this afternoon so I started putting it all together about 9:00 this evening. I got the cam and timing chain back in the motor then got back to changing out the valve springs. About halfway through changing the springs out, I noticed one of the keepers is wrong... Hoping for the best, I counted what was left thinking maybe it was just an extra. Nope...I have one wrong one and can’t finish until I get one. Hoping my machine shop possibly has one lying around since otherwise I may be another day out to finish this deal and am committed to have this thing going by Monday of next week. Starting to feel the pressure considering how much real work I also have to get done in the next few days.

The shifter I had like that one was mounted on a taller plate, and the cable barely missed the rod. I notice the rods are the straight, reinforced style. Racing stuff!
    Love your 'Vette.

neat! What's the serial number on yours? Should be on the top of the bed, at the right end, just past the tail stock.

has a link to the serial number database, if you're interested. You can email the guy info on the lathe it you want it included. I guess that one traveled pretty far!

Got the last keeper from my buddy at the machine shop that happened to have one. So, almost there and would be even closer if I would have brought home the calipers from work last night to measure installed spring height...and noticed there was a .015 shim under all the springs before I did one complete head. So, pulling those now and just need to adjust the valves and seal it all up to take to work in the morning.

New wheels and tires, new stance, new motor, wrapping interior stuff up enough to enjoy for the summer. Same 80s or 90s color but runs and drives great.
