NAILED IT! perfect late 60’s Stance! Hello Munsters, Speedracer, and Batman! Barris would be Proud! Maybe I should just paint the fenders silver!! rear Poke is perfect! I’m almost proud…
I love the play by play, myself. I still need to go catch up from the beginning tho'. Well, that is for a late night/rainy day time. fun to watch you figure it out and keep going... -Woogeroo
I have till Thursday! Well Wednesday actually cause I’m gonna spend all day Thursday cleaning up everything I screwed up and didn’t do! Lol! I pick her and my niece up at 11:30 at night so I got all day!!
Stayed up late last night trying to get to the point. I am right now boy that was a tough one I hate Bondo! The front fender turned out great, the rear fenders…. A lot better than they were…but you know it’s a driver. Wet sand, paint those while they’re dry and going to start on the doors!!
I think I might need some medical attention after all this!!! I’m so sore when I get up, I can’t hardly walk!
Jasco, razor blades and My arms, sand sand sand sand sand…… Vinegar and a toothbrush in the little crevices on the welds. I’m sore.
Today so far…. Stripping the door guts and everything right now while I’m waiting for the paint to tack- up so I can move them. Away from sanding dust. Then I’ll start on the doors. I’m just gonna strip the paint to the beltline, and then sand and blend the rest. And weld cracks around the hinges may, be fill with a piece of metal here and there well see.
Thanks! The Jasco is messy as hell but as long as you try to scrape it to one side of the drop sheet and then sweep it up as it dries a little bit. It’s when you step all over it you get it everywhere. Beats sanding it though. I tried to sand it on the other fender and turned out terrible. Just be careful if you hit some filler underneath your paint instead of worrying about gouging it. Just fill the gouges later . I ended up sanding it all off which, as a result, you can see all screwed up the fenders are. Should’ve just left as much filler on there as they could’ve. It just bothered me that they filled over every little thing but after playing with it myself, I see why you can’t get all the little hammer Marks out.
Getting closer to the finish line it looks like this is the rest of the parts. I have to paint at least black, except for the window frames. Metallic gray.
Welp! Everything’s black! Just need to do the tale pan tomorrow after I cut out the gas tank hole! I think “Earl Scheib” might laugh at me if he was still alive, but hey, it’s black!!!! “ I’ll paint any car for $99.95 Well…didn’t I say…I was going for that building-on-the side-of -the house-garage kind of thing in the 60s? So….I did achieve that! And it’s definitely not a rat rod! Gonna start putting it together tomorrow. I don’t really care what it looks like at this point I’m worn out!
Welp! I Purt-Near made it! I had to quit at half past midnight!!! All the big stuff is done anyway. Going to try to cut the hole and paint the tail tan tomorrow in between cleaning the house for the Mrs. I got a lot to do!!!! I need to do a door latch repair and then put those on hopefully If I can get the tail lights and headlights hooked up, I should be able to drive it to work. Maybe???
House is all clean… Wife is happy! Made in cleaner then when she left! Garage is all clean, and a little more roomy now! and Her Stable mate is back inside! (Get it?)
I snuck this on the car while she was in the shower. Whilst I Was “cleaning” the ice chest for the 2 week ritual Costco Run! Shhhhh…
I have been following your great write ups through all its trials and tribulations. You have built one fantastic looking car. Congratulations.
Better to have it together like you do in "good enough" condition than stuck forever in body and paint purgatory. Life's too short, you gotta enjoy them while you can.
My thoughts exactly! Could have been better, but I would rather enjoy it! I think wet sanding a body part a little bit at a time…it will look alright
