Technical '32 Cowl Vent Question

Hey all...I'm wondering if there is supposed to be a screen in the '32 Ford cowl vent? If so, does anyone have a picture? How/where does it attach? What is the shape to clear the vent door?

My 37 has provisions for a screen but my 34 does not.I’d imagine the 32 is the same. Lots of visitors come to lay on my lap while driving down the road.
I’ve even considered installing a flexible nylon screen that folds while closing it.

 

They make a screen for the 32. Check with the usual parts places. I'm sure Joe's has them

 

Exactly! On a recent trip, I had a couple wasps come in for a visit...fortunately they were stunned by hitting hard stuff on their way in. But, I thought if they managed to get lucky on their way in and not hit the hard parts, I could be their next target...I hate it when that happens!

32 and 33 cars didn't originally have a screen and neither did 32 through 34 pickups but someone later made one to fit in the later design cowl vent lid in 32 cars and pickups and the 33 and 34 pickups. 34 car's were the only ones that came with a screen. That's why the 33 and 34 cars have lids that are the same on the outside but are different on the bottom.

 

I just added a 32 cowl vent to my 29 roadster
I found a screen from vyntique that sits over the opening
Google 32 cowl vent screen and I sure it will come up.

 

There is 3 different vent doors for 32,, I think a 4th one.
I believe screen only fits the Later year release production vent door design,
The 2 earlier design vents completely different,
Spring , hinge & mounting

 

I've got several lids and they are all one of two designs so I though that was all there was. Do you have pictures that show the differences? I know this is going off topic or diving too deep into it but I find these things fascinating.

B-V , United Pacific & others ,
This is One of the first designs,
Will not work with 3rd & 4th production run , this Is why most of time when you find Original 32 vent doors for sale is because 1st & 2nd design & even hing , mounting tray are diffrent, parts are not available except the gasket,
Parts can be made/duplicate with time in Fabrication skills ,
