Not to sound like a dirty old man, Scott Pavey is just 3 or 4 years older than me. Meaning the comment about the chic`s sitting by him. There`s always a wild card in the bunch. Hereis a Flathead powered sportscar with a 49-51 Ford rear section. It might not have been in the show, as there is no CCR window card. IMG_0439.jpeg IMG_0438.jpeg IMG_0437.jpeg IMG_0436.jpeg

I`ve seen this one a few times over the past years as well. It was built by Mike and Larry--The Alexander Brothers from Detroit Michigan. It is now owned by Lou Casabella from Stillwater New Jersey. I don`t think Lou has missed this show. He is a regular at the KKOA show as well. He has a few custom cars in his collection. When you go to custom car shows for years, you end up meeting all these people. I tell people it`s like me taking my mixed mutt to a purebred dog show. You learn real fast who the genuine nice people are compared to the A holes. When you share a passion for some thing, there`s a common bond and the conversation starts. Either that, or they just tolerate me. IMG_0450.jpeg IMG_0452.jpeg IMG_0451.jpeg

Dave Wolk`s beautiful Merc from Northeast Kansas. I think this car has the perfect stance. Him and his brother have built a good number of cool cars over the years. They make custom air cleaners under the name Wolk Design. Dave also made 3 or 4 sets of Hudson Taillights pictured below. They sit more upright. Dennis McPhail also has a set on his 41 Buick that`s for sale in the HAMB classifieds. Overheard Dave saying :Ric Hoving photo shopped His merc in the snow scene of a picture he did. Everybody thinks it`s the Sam Barris Merc. But there are differences. Dave is a pretty good painter. Considering he is color blind.

9. Thanks for the coverage. Hope to see you in Des Moines in a couple weeks. I'll be driving a green German "people's car" that I'm trying to sell. I really hope a Kustom is in my future someday.

10. Good picts, thank you. JW

The Scorpion was built by Doug Thompson from the Kansas City area back in the early 80`s. The book cover was taken in Des Moines KKOA 2nd big show. I saw it there. Wearing the same paint and almost unchanged, now owned by Doug Speck ? Steck ? From Ohio. Doug Thompson built like 6 Harry Bently Design Achievement award winning cars in the 80`s and early 90`s. He was the King back then. Scan_20230622.png IMG_0388.jpeg IMG_0387.jpeg IMG_0373.jpeg IMG_0063.jpeg IMG_0062.jpeg

He also owns this 58 Chevy Twilight Time which he bought from Gary and Mary minor from California. They have traveled from California to the KKOA event for like 35 years while driving a custom. They still attend when health isn`t an issue. They have also traveled many times to Indy in a custom as well. Now they bring a daily driver. Doug brings the 58 for them to drive if they feel the need around Indy. A couple you need to meet. They also put out the Diehards newsletter for years for their club, The Diehards. For traditionally built 50`s customs. The had a Mauld Merc in every issue. They stopped it a few years back. IMG_0101.jpeg IMG_0100.jpeg IMG_0061.jpeg IMG_0060.jpeg

It`s the second time taking pic`s with my new phone. Before, I had a flip phone. The 3-g technology went away.

Dave and James Wolk made a trophy and gave it to Ted from Alton Illinois during the awards presentation for his Ford Sedan. A well-built car with all the custom touches. Ted has attended the CCR numerous times with 4 different cars. His current ride wasn`t quite finished in time for this year`s show. IMG_0454.jpeg IMG_0453.jpeg IMG_0249.jpeg IMG_0250.jpeg

IMG_0353.jpeg IMG_0351.jpeg IMG_0349.jpeg IMG_0315.jpeg Here is a 40 Merc now owned by Jack Walker of Belton Missouri. The Clone King as he has owned more than a few. He has been winning lots of award with this car since he bought it 3 years ago. Ted owned it for 20 years. He had it at the revival 2 or 3 times. He bought it from Dave Conrad from Kirkwood Missouri. Dave bought the car unfinished with a chop already started. He finished the car to perfection more than 25 years ago. @D.Conrad -- Dave needs to get more credit for all the cars he has built over the years. Dave has brought a couple different cars to the Revival a few times as well.

IMG_0415.jpeg Here`s a pretty classy looking 57 Olds from the Kansas City area. Got to know them when we went to eat a Frazoli`s with James and Dave. He used to hang around with David Mann (the famous artist who did chopper renderings) years ago. There is about 12 - 15 eating places with-in a short walk, so you can just leave your car parked all week end long. 5766548 IMG_0281.jpeg IMG_0279.jpeg

Kevin had issues with the hotel this year, so he might switch locations. Details to come when decisions are made.

Really nice job on the pics, wish I could have been there.
:)New phone, huh? Did the Jojirushi Rice Cooker people get hold of you yet? If you send me your number, I'll give it them, the Nigerian Prince and to Svetlana who "only wants to be your friend" and she'll get off my case. ;)

I have 19 names in my contacts. It wasn`t too hard for my wife to transfer them to my new phone. I still rely on my address book.

Smile n Cody found this old custom and restored it to it`s original custom form. He thought the dash needed to be chromed. His little girls have grown up attending this event. Thou, they are still young. And a bit noisy at the hotels continental breakfast. You might remember his chopped and highly customized 55 Ford pickup. It had a plxi glass roof. Was sold to the guy in Dewy who removed the plexi glass roof, had it painted a custom candy blue with custom accents. He now has a custom bike he hauls in the bed of the truck. Found a pic I took of the off topic Ford Vicky. It was sitting level. With a pan caked trunk lid. DSCF0077.JPG
