Well I'm along ways off from needing one but it never stops me from looking for parts!

So I need to find a rear view mirror for my 31 tudor, but I'd like to find an oem mirror not necessarily a ford or a 31 model. I just want something with that old oem art deco look.

Next will be the dome light, again oem/art deco...

So show me what you gots !

For a dome light, I enjoy the styling of a 50's Nash unit.

I already had the stock mirror and replaced the broken glass with a repro from Mike's. I used a piece of sheet metal with a hole made to fit a time piece. The sheet metal is just sandwiched between the glass mirror and the bracket.
The plan is to use one of my old art deco watches from the era to replace the quartz movement. DSC07546.JPG
I have a pair of purple "whore lights" from the 50s stashed somewhere. They will be mounted on the upper kick panels instead of a dome light.

I had a 61 Stude Hawk mirror, very rusty chrome...I sandblasted it and painted it black to match the dash and steering column, I am happy with how it turned out.

I didn't have a mirror for my 60 Chevy, so I was at the junkyard, found a basic looking mirror without all the fancy modern stuff on it, took a hammer and screwdriver and knocked it off the glass, used some mirror adhesive to glue the tab in the correct spot and viola! Rearview mirror complete :D

Thanks for the pics guys !!

    @willys36 I like the beveled edges !
@NoRust like the art deco look of that light
@A 2 B nice job on adding the clock !
@denis4x4 that is a nice setup there, like it being oem too.
@vtx1800 I never considered a dash mounted mirror, that opens up a few more possibilities.

I’ve a similar one around with a chrome bezel, the bezel is a bout an inch longer at both ends of the glass, with a slide switch on each side. I think I took out of a 70’s Pontiac.

mirror 3.jpg On my early Covette, it did not come with the day/night mirror. Wanted a correct, retro-style mirror
that had that feature, so found a '53 Chevy mirror which did, re-threaded the post and installed it just
    like the original one.

This is a Hagen mirror in my 41 pickup. Small mirror, big field vision. I have matching peep mirrors on the doors.

    Hello,

For most hot rods, any blind spots create a problem. The widest inside rear view mirror is selected for a better sight line to the rear. In my first Flathead 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, the mirror was old and showed some discoloration in/on the surface. But, the view out of the rear window was virtually useless due to it being so high in the door. So, we did not pay much attention to it.

The little outside mirror was also a view saver as it showed down the right side blind spot in the rear ¼ panel. That blind spot was over looked as we just loved driving the sedan delivery and it was a reliable car for our surf trips all over the So Cal coastline.

When my wife and I got married and chose a 327 powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery as a project car, it needed a lot of detailing work and one of the things was a good clear interior rear view mirror. We did not care about the style, but wanted a wide enough one to cover the whole rear area. The wider unit covered the rear door window area, and the whole right side to the back, as much as we could see. At first, it was ok, but after a couple of years, we quit night driving due to the lack of vision on the outside rear view mirror.

So what did we get, a wide view inside mirror. We wanted to keep the stock appearance on the outside, so we had to work with the small circular mirrors. The one thing we did not notice as a problem was the inside mirror surface got cloudy and discoloration began in one corner and started spreading.

We found out later that it was something creating problems with the silver in the mirror coating. It has been tested and proven that Ammonia infused window cleaner of any brand, like Windex with Ammonia was the direct cause of the leaking silver material inside of every mirror. Some mirrors look good new and stay that way for a while. But, as moisture detailing continues, those old Ammonia Windex sprays were used on all glass surfaces.

The Ammonia compound + moisture/water does something to the silver and the discoloration on any mirror can be attributed to it.

Note: My wife bought a new inside rear view mirror as a gift for me one year. My rear view mirror was so cloudy and discolored that it was not fun driving around. So, I installed the new spotless mirror. Then several months later, using the Ammonia Windex we all bought and used on glass started creating the discoloration, again.
    upload_2023-7-3_3-11-21.png
We switched to Glass Plus Window Cleaner. It looks like Windex with the blue color, but the buck stops there. The non ammonia window cleaner gets the mirror or glass surface cleaner than the Windex. We changed all of our sprays to Glass Plus for all of our hot rod mirrors and family road trip cars. To keep the household mirrors from de-silvering, we use Glass Plus, but LESS OF IT, due to the liquid spray.

With the ever increasing road trips prior to the pandemic, good sightlines was mandatory again for comfortable driving anywhere. The Glass Plus liquid helped solve the mystery of the discoloration on/in those interior rear view mirrors.

Note 2: If you use the same ammonia laced Windex on any glass surface only, it cleans well. But, if you use the same ammonia infused blue cleaner on mirrored surfaces, get ready for discolorations that will show up down the line. Whatever mirror you choose, when cleaning it, use less spray, and put it on a clean rag first, to wipe off the surface(s).

I am still using the gift present, rear view mirror without any discoloration due to ammonia on glass surfaces, but less water/moisture from the spray. I spray it on a rag, then clean the mirror. The Glass Plus version is a good cleaner. We have a couple of bottles to clean surfaces and mirrors, just use less on the mirrored surfaces. Great commercials on TV, but ammonia infused window cleaners+ water/moisture ruins old mirrors for cars and inside the mirrors of the house. YRMV
